The Lionfish Killer Is Back!!!

Note: If you didn’t hear the amazing interview with Alex Fogg (aka The Lionfish Killer) that just went live yesterday called “Meet The Man That Has Killed Over 10,000 Lionfish”, then download and listen to the podcast interview here.

This video below it a recent dive that Alex and his Reef Ranger friends did on a wreck called the Empire Mica off Cape San Blas, Florida.

They ended up filling up their zookeepers and came away with a few hundred pounds of lionfish!

Great job guys!

Thanks for all of the support below sea level to clean up these reefs and wrecks!

Enjoy.

It’s that time again…

Freshwater Friday!

Earlier this week we had a video that went crazy viral of a Texas surf fisherman using his drone to drop his bait out up to 500 yards off the beach (you can watch that awesome video here).

So we figured we would follow it up to close out the week with another great drone fishing video…

This time, it was to set a record for the largest fish ever caught on a drone (to top it off, it was being attempted while ice fishing).

The two guys in the video are the hosts of a popular YouTube channel called “Uncut Angling” where some crazy Canadians do all kinds of funny and extreme fishing.

In this video, they set out to see if they can catch a monster fish through the ice with their drone (without ruining another drone).

His “Shoutout” to the girl is pretty darn funny!

It’s about time someone tried catching a fish bigger than a bluegill using a drone!

Check out how they fair.

Enjoy.

There is nothing like seeing a redfish come up and slam your topwater lure…

Especially when you can get a redfish to hit a topwater in the winter time like this video below from our friend Trey Mikell.

If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he made the Salt Strong viral video page before with another amazing topwater redfish video (you can see it here).

I ended up watching this redfish video a couple of times it was so awesome… the sound of the hit combined with the sound of the drag were like a beacon calling me to the flats…

Enjoy.

And great job Trey!

Have you ever seen a snook hit a live bait, get hooked, fight for a few seconds, spit the hook out, and then slam the same hooked bait just seconds later?

Ironically, this same scenario was part of our rebuttal to PETA about catch and release fishing when they made some outrageous claims that fish feel pain the exact same way humans do.

(You can read the full rebuttal to PETA about Catch & Release Fishing here)

One of the many points we made in our rebuttal was asking PETA how can a fish can possibly feel pain from a hook the same way a human would, yet strike a hooked bait just minutes (or seconds) after being hooked?

I know that if someone hooked me in the lip and pulled hard, the last thing I would do is have my face near hooks for quite some time…

At any rate, this awesome snook footage is from our friend Capt. Mike Slattery’s new show called the “Charlotte Harbor Chronicles” that is featured on the Sportsman Channel.

Pretty cool show in our opinion because it is based in Port Charlotte where my brother and I have spent most of our lives fishing.

Check out this super hungry snook that Capt. Mike hooked (twice).

Enjoy.

It’s Saturday…

The day that more boating accidents and boating fails happen than any other day of the week.

Of course, many of the boat fails, accidents, and bloopers happen right at the public boat ramps.

This boat launch fail is unique in that it has a six-figure boat launching itself right back on the paved ramp (this occurred at the notorious Lake Havasu).

And the odd thing is, that no one seems to know exactly what happened after reading through all of the comments.

Some believe that the throttle was jammed, while others claim the boat was still hitched to the trailer.

What do you think happened?

Let us know in the comments.

Enjoy and stay SAFE out there folks!

The first dog that our dad let Luke and I pick out was a beagle.

I can still remember looking through the litter and beagle puppies and this one little guy kept coming over to us and rubbing up against our shoes…

We took that little dog home that day and named him Sam.

Sam was with us for an astonishing 17 years before we finally had to put him down to rest. Some great memories no doubt.

So when I was checking my inbox this morning and saw a message from a guy named Luke Swiderski that said, “Big Trophy Beagle Fishing with Extreme Florida Angler” it certainly caught my attention.

And after watching this over the top “Beagle Fishing” video, I just had to share it with you.

Some of the one-liners in here are hilarious!

Oh Buttery Beagle… Dolly Parton!”

Wait til’ you see the “Trash fish dog” they catch.

Enjoy.

Note: No dogs were hurt in the making of this film

But did you also know they can produce one heck of a fishing television show?

Just wait til’ you see the amazing trailer they put together below!

And you might recognize the main character of The Seahunter fishing show as Captain Rob Fordyce from the show “Silver Kings” (click here to watch the epic Silver Kings trailer)

Freshwater Friday is back!!!

I was actually in San Diego all week, took the red eye home this morning, and saw this awesome “Dog Fishing” video in my inbox…

And what perfect timing since I needed a good video to post (and it just happened to be Friday).

Check out this amazing golden retriever named “Rani” that has learned how to grab fish right off the dock!

Here are the notes from the dog’s owner:

“Rani is a golden retriever who has caught dozens of fish as well as some turtles. Watch her snatch a big bluegill out of the water. She puts the bread right under her mouth for bait.”

What a smart dog!

And we all thought the lobster diving dog was cool. This golden retriever has even figured out the baiting part of it.

Amazing.

Ever heard of San Blas?

And no, I am not talking about the San Blas in Florida…

I am talking about Panama.

The San Blas Islands of Panama comprise approximately 365 islands and cays (of which only 49 are inhabited).

And as you will see below, these islands are a pretty phenomenal, one of a kind,  and tough place to fish.

According to our friends over at AFTCO, the San Blas islands are one of those rare places that can be tough to fish because they are just TOO many incredibly looking places (and little is documented about them).

I don’t know about you, but I will gladly fly in a few extra days early for some recon…

What a place!

And it’s why Panama is certainly one of the top places in the entire world to fish.

Enjoy.
