If this video doesn’t give you some major respect for the U.S. Coast Guard, then nothing will…

Here is the backstory from Outdoors360

“On June 19th, a Last $ charter trip off the coast of Maryland was interrupted when one of the passengers, Tim Gola, began complaining of chest pains. More than 60 miles off the coast at the time, Captains Rodney Meyers and Chris Ragni knew they had to do something.

They began making their way back to port, but calls to the Coast Guard went unanswered. They eventually made contact with another charter boat, the Game Changer out of Ocean City, whose crew was able to relay the request for help to the Coast Guard. Within an hour, the Coast Guard’s MH-65 Dolphin helicopter arrived and staged a daring rescue while the boat was still moving.

Thanks to some quick thinking by Meyers and Ragni and the Coast Guard, Gola’s life was saved.”

Amazing job guys, and thank you for your service Coast Guard members.

Nothing better than watching fast-acting teamwork save a man’s life.

This Family Guy fishing clip was too good not to share on a lovely Freshwater Friday!

In this clip, Peter is faced with a split-decision choice between two of the following things:

  1. Go fishing with the guys
  2. Go eat lunch with his in-laws

Find out what choice he makes in this funny video below.

What would you have done?

Call me old-fashioned, but the last place that I want to be when chumming for bull sharks is in the water!

I have spent a considerable amount of time under the surface, and only a few sharks really get my attention and cause me to slowly move closer to the boat… and one of them in the bull shark.

That being said, kudos to you brave crazy divers that not only chum for bull sharks while diving, but then get close enough to the bull shark where you can pluck a cobia off its back!

Nuts!

Speaking of nuts, one of the divers in this cobia spearfishing video (and the guy who edited the video – our friend Joey) is also the same diver in the Must-Watch Viral video called, “This Is What Happens When A Triggerfish Gets The Ultimate Revenge On A Diver. OUCH!”

Enjoy.

This is pretty sweet! (my only complaint is no music)

But I am willing to forgive and forget after watching this amazing drone footage over a big school of tarpon.

Pretty cool to see exactly how this school of tarpon reacts to the fly when thrown in certain areas of the school, and really cool to see the tarpon move out of the group to chase down the fly.

A few times the entire school spooked just because the fly landed too close to one of the tarpon’s head.

But if you keep watching, he finally hooks up with a nice tarpon after the drone found the school again.

Great job guys!

Enjoy.

Angler Dennis Verreet is well-known in Australia for landing some of the biggest game fish from land.

In fact, he has been working on beating numerous world record catches…

The video title mentioned a potential land-based world record on spinning tackle for this beast of a yellowfin tuna, but I didn’t see any final documentation.

However, it did mention that the tuna in this video ended up weighing in at 230lbs.

That’s a big tuna for a boat, not to mention landing it from rocks!

Well done Dennis.

And well done Dennis’s ladyfriend with that monster gaff!

Amberjack – 0

Spearfisherman – 1

Watch as this amberjack comes in WAY too close for a curious look at a spear tip.

Talk about an ideal encounter for the diver… just sit there on the bottom and wait for one fish crazy enough to come within inches of his spear.

Watch til’ the end as there are some pics of the unlucky amberjack above water.

Enjoy!

Kayak Kevin is the man.

He is the “Survivorman” of the fishing world…

A “reel guy” that is out there by himself, no deck hands, no cameramen, no help.

And watching him weave in and out of other boats all while fighting a beast of a red drum gives you some respect for this monster catch.

Well done Kevin!

That is a monster 53-inch red drum!

And it was good to see the redfish swim off at the end after the long fight.

Chances are, you’ve been there before if you are a serious angler…

You can see the storm coming, there are flashes of lightning and echos of thunder from miles away, and your instincts tell you that it is best to pack up and head back in to port…

But if the bite is hot, or even better, you have a monster fish on, sometimes an angler must do what an angler must do.

Check out this awesome footage from the Salty Roots guys getting wet and pulling up monster permit (this was one of four permit they caught that day, and the biggest one came in at 50 pounds!!!)

Great job gents.

And for you salty anglers that don’t think it is a big deal to fish in a downpour from a wide open, unprotected, no cover flats boat, the video notes did say that there was thunder and lightning (that can’t be seen from the angle of this GoPro footage).

Enjoy.

Just when you think you are getting the underwater shot of your life with up and close manta ray, the unexpected happens…

The beast of a ray steals your $5,000 camera and takes off running!

Wait until you see what happened next.

Turns out the manta ray just wanted to take some footage himself…

Enjoy!

Big thanks to Joey “Stars, Stripes, and Spanjers” from California for sending this one in.
