You wouldn’t think that a 20lb baby Goliath Grouper would be that hard to land…

But pound for pound, these baby grouper have more energy, more strength, and can fit into more small crevices of structure (where they break you off) than almost any other fish in Florida.

Need some proof?

Then watch as our friend Josh Jorgensen (BlacktipH) takes out bass angler Justin Rackley (LakeForkGuy) to tackle these “Baby Giants”.

The quote of the video was by LakeForkGuy:

“I’m glad bass don’t fight this hard… they’d break everything I have”

No doubt about that Justin!

Also, while fishing for these elusive baby goliath grouper, BlacktipH even gets a solid “Snooky” surprise that sealed the deal on an awesome day of fishing.

And no, I’m not talking about an appearance from the “Snooki” on Jersey Shore…

I’m talking about something a little more “tasteful”.

Great job guys.

Enjoy.

What were you doing in your spare time when you were 16 years old

Chances are good that you weren’t catching 43-inch SLOB Snook from a public pier like it was going out of style…

But that is exactly what 16-year old Ryan Izquierdo (he turns 17 this Friday so a Big Happy Birthday Ryan) and his buddies do any chance they get…

Whether it be on someone’s boat, the beach, or this Snook-infested pier (Juno Beach Pier), these guys are outside getting their fill of fishing.

In fact, catching monster fish is all Ryan thinks about… his ultimate goal would be to have his own boat and to make a living on the water teaching others how to catch fish.

Makes me proud to see teenagers like this out there with a burning desire to fish and to help others catch fish. Certainly millions of times better than staying inside stuck to their phones or an Xbox…

And yes, this is the same “Snooky” Juno Beach Pier that we featured a couple of weeks ago where some anglers jumped into the water. It was called, “These Anglers Jump Into The Largest School Of Spawning Snook Ever Caught On Video!” (you can watch it here).

Great job Ryan!

Keep on fishing man!

Snook Heaven exists!

In all seriousness, if there was a Snook Heaven, this would be it.

I have heard about these unbelievable schools of snook spawning in Florida, but had never seen one up close like this.

But thanks to our friends over at Landshark Fishing TV who had the courage to jump in the water at the Juno Beach Pier (where the water isn’t always this clear, and there are usually a few monster sharks hanging around), we all get to witness something pretty special…

The largest Snook Spawning ritual caught on video yet!

And check out the snook at the 2:21 mark. He has a leader he is carrying around (the Ultimate Snook badge of honor no doubt).

In other news, if you can’t catch a Snook from the Juno Beach Pier, then you can’t catch one anywhere…

Enjoy this amazing footage, and thanks to Landshark Fishing for sending it over.

Holy Smokes!

It’s not every day that you get to see a Snook going after a Largemouth Bass!

And certainly not a snook and bass of this size.

Fortunately for us, Capt. Danny Barrow of GoSnookFishing was fishing in some brackish area of Florida (where saltwater meets freshwater), and he happened to have his phone to capture this entire event on film.

Capt. Danny had a comment on his Facebook feed about the video and said the Snook was more realistically in the 40lb range, but we can’t blame any fisherman for extending the size of the fish in the heat of the moment…

Thanks to our friends over at The Guy Harvey Online Fisherman for getting Capt. Danny’s video on YouTube so we could all enjoy.

So we all know that Captain Ben Chancey of Chew on This is a stud fisherman…

Capt. Ben has caught more monster sharks, Goliath Grouper, and other Florida species of fish than most anglers alive…

But did you know his daughter catches bigger snook than most men do in their lifetime?

The 30lb snook caught by a Girl

In this video, Ben’s daughter Lexis lands a MONSTER 30lb snook using a Diawa Saltiga on a Cape Fear Rod.

Well done Lexis!

Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms and his drone flying stud partner Nick Shirghio have done it again!

They have somehow produced back to back saltwater inshore fishing video masterpieces that certainly land each of the videos up in the rankings of top inshore fishing videos of all time.

After coming off a Grand Slam hit video called, “Fishing in our Soul” with Jill’s Cashbox featuring Salt Strong (in our humble opinion the best saltwater inshore video of all time), Patrick and Nick Shirghio hit another home run with Eleven Angling: Bluemoon Expeditions out of Islamorada, Florida with their fly fishing video at the bottom of this page.

Just wait until you see the tarpon footage! Amazing.

Next, make sure to check out Patrick and Nick’s other over the top video in the last 30 days below.

If you have even been fishing while cameras are rolling, you know that it rarely turns out like this with Tarpon hitting your fly just feet away from the camera and boat. Amazing job!

Enjoy!

FACT: Catching monster snook on a fly rod isn’t easy…

And many times catching the biggest snook on any type of fishing reel requires incredible patience, testing, and travel.

Yep, travel.

And in this video, Todd Moen has to go through a lot to get to his snook honey hole:

  • Trekking through mud for who knows how long
  • Wading up to his chest in unfamiliar waters (with unfamiliar animals in the water like water snakes)
  • Dealing with Mosquitos the size of small birds
  • And when he finally does get in a boat, he realizes he will be on a small canoe for the entire day with little comfort, and certainly no amenities

Regardless of all Todd went through, we thank him for doing it (and for bringing along a camera with him).

Because this is probably one of the very best big Snook on fly videos we have seen yet. You will feel like you are in the canoe with Todd Moen when he puts the smack down on some big Snook with his fly rod.

And this video will have you contemplating trading all your spinning gear in for a buggy whip and a plane ticket to Mexico.

So the question remains, would you go through all of this to catch a big snook on the fly?

I know I sure would.

Captain Jeff Maggio (aka Lunkerdog) is at it again… putting priceless smiles on kids faces out on the water.

When we interviewed Capt Jeff back in March (you can watch the interview here), he told us that he was the man for getting people on Tarpon 365 days per year down in the Ft. Lauderdale area. And based on what we have seen from him every week since March, that statement rings true.

If you haven’t seen Captain Jeff’s other videos that made it to our homepage, check them out here after you watch the latest video below:

P.S. – If you think your friends would like this video, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it

I have seen a lot of snook honey holes along with a bunch of amazing snook lights in my day, and I am pretty certain that this is the most snook I have ever seen in one place… And certainly the most snook on video.

Notice in the video below that this snook school keeps on going (even outside of the lighted area) as he pans around with his camera phone. And the snook are on a few different depth levels as well.

Talk about the Ultimate Snook School!

Sadly, I don’t think the Snook are as abundant in Florida (like they used to be in this video) since the big freeze a few years back. However, it is certainly getting better every year.

And if someone does have any footage of snook schools that are bigger than this, then please forward it over as I would love to see it.

My only problem with this video is “Why Isn’t Anyone Fishing!!!”

This snook frenzy footage was captured by Tom Gidus a few years ago at the Square Grouper, Castaways Marina, which is in Jupiter, FL (near the sighting of the most recent great white shark encounter – see that video here).

Enjoy this amazing snook footage, and please forward it on to someone you know that loves Snook. Thank you.
