Best Water Temperature
Here’s a helpful lesson I filmed a while back that explains how and when to pay attention to water temperatures to predict exactly which spots will hold fish.

LOL, Just say “NO” to unicorns
Glad to see that you enjoyed that part of the lesson.
it’s amazing how this works even in ice fishing there all at the bottom but some of them are biting better than others
Excellent presentation. Did not know there were more important factors other than water temperature.
Great lesson and explaination of temperture and how it relates to catching fish.
I LOVE THIS PARTICULAR CLASS !!!! Luke, you’re the man 🤜🤛 Thank you 🙏
Ha I remember when I first joined saltstrong and asked you on several occasions when you did a trip report onnwhat the water temps were when you were fishing and you always have me the same answer that you never bother checking them because you believe that it would male you pay more attention to the temps and not to the trends that you discovered well I have ALWAYS said that water temps are very important to fishing considering how sensitive fish can be in finding there ideal temp zone think about it I know foe a fact that snook can ultimately die if the water temp is below 70 degrees for any considerable amount of time and that in winter only a few degree difference can make a difference in finding the fish and not besides why would fishfinders have temp gouges on them if water temps were not that important I know back when I was a kid and fished on mich for only freshwater fish there was a mag that was called the infisherman and there slogan was the science of fishing and they ALWAYS talked about finding the thermocline if fishing in fall and spring which is a warm layer of water that in winter is on the bottom third of a lake and in the fall is when the lake flips so to speak when the water on top that is the warmest drops to the bottom and the cold water comes to the top and in spring it’s the opposite plus when my Father who fished in lake mich trolling for steelhead and brown trout and Chinook salmon he always checked for the thermoclines location on his paper lowrance fishfinder and could be found by seeing a darker thick patch of water closer to the bottom so he would set up his downriggers at a depth just above it anyways like I said in my earlier comment about your cobra loss incident to me its just common sence man and fish and all creatures have a comfort zone and when an angler can find that specific sweetspot so to speak he or she has a better chance of finding the fish anyways also like I always say thanks for the info and always ad usual all you do😀👍
Oh dogs learn new tricks
Wow awesome coarses Luke didnot start at the beginners level considering I have been overall fishing for 55 years (started fishing freshwater with my dad in mich when I was 5 years old) and inshore saltwater fishing for going on 21 years this March 11 kinda funny considering that was my 14th wedding anniversary day in March 11 of 03 anyways but the intermediate and the advanced coarses are extremely well done and I love what you have done so far with the smarts spots app especially with the 1 ft contours great info and highly informative there is only 1 thing in the school that I highly disagree that you said about the rod being the most important and not the reel I have always said amd always will say that they BOTH are equally as important as the other because you can have a great rod but if you have a cheap reel with a crappy drag system and that awesome fish gets hooked chances are pretty much I would say that fish is going to win that fight because obviously that drag is going to fail or if it seizes up because it’s not very corrosion resistant now you just lost a good fish that’s why it’s imperative that BOTH are equally in great working order and quality maybe yes the rod does do alot of the work in that it puts more pressure on the fish keeping the hook from being pulled out or coming out but you have to remember without the line obviously no fish amd the reel needs to do the job of putting the right drag pressure on the line to help the rod put pressure on the fish and im not saying the reel has to be more expensive because one can find a great reel at a good price now days it just has to be of good or great quality otherwise you just wasted buying a good rod that has no good reel to fish with anyways I hope you get my meaning fishing for it to really work well has alot of conditions that need to come together in sequence like a team in a sports game if you have mostly great players then yes you MAY win the game but you would have a much better chance if all were pretty much of the same skill level and work as a team effectively anyways just speaking from the heart like I always do and from my own life experiences and at 60 now I have seen my fair share thats for sure thanks for the great school and all the awesome things you do👍😉
