Have you ever had one of those days where you dreamed of quitting your job, selling everything, walking away from it all, and pursuing a wild dream…

Literally burning your suits and your uniforms while saying one final farewell to your old life…

Becoming your own boss, wearing flip-flops and shorts to work, and starting a new chapter…

Well, my brother Luke and I did just that last year (and a little more…)

And we want to share our story with you where we proceeding to do the following:

• Sold everything
• Literally burned our suits in a fire
• Quit our jobs
• Moved my family across state lines
• Said goodbye to friends
• Started over from scratch
• Started changing the lives of anglers by creating a saltwater fishing apparel company that teaches the world how to catch fish…
• And entered a multi-billion dollar industry where we will be using every guerilla tactic known to man in order to compete with the big boy fishing brands…

David vs. Goliath…

The Salt Strong story is the ultimate David vs Goliath underdog story as our small family (and two employees) is going head to head with behemoth brands and companies in the outdoor and fishing industry… some with many hundreds of employees and weekly budgets that are larger than our annual budget.

But I’ve learned in life that you never count out someone with undying persistence and a burning desire to survive and disrupt an industry…

And you never count out a family that is willing to risk it all to win…

The American Dream…

The lifestyle brand known as “Salt Strong” is two brother’s dream of a fishing apparel company that would focus on the following three things:

1. Actually teaching anglers how to catch the fish on the back of their shirts. We always said anybody can draw a nice looking fish, slap it on a shirt, and sell it… but it takes a real special apparel company to actually help you catch that fish
2. Creating STRONG and SIMPLE fishing apparel. We aren’t sure what happened to fishing shirts over the past decade, but it’s not good… the vast majority of them look like they belong on a clown or in the circus. We aim to bring simple back to fishing.
3. Impacting as many kids and families to get outside and create memories and experiences out on the water as possible. Fishing changed our lives, it helped form our family over many generations, and we want to help create similar experiences in as many families as we can.

Family…

At the end of the day, we know our business is going to keep evolving and changing.

But the one thing that will never change is our focus on FAMILY.

Nothing beats seeing families create memories, legacies, and experiences that will be long remembered. And it is impossible to replace the conversations and bonding that go on out on the water while fishing with close friends and family.

Not to mention, nothing beats the adrenaline rush and reward of risking it all with your family by starting a family company!

Now I would be lying if I said it wasn’t hard work starting a brand from scratch without any momentum, but it sure is rewarding when you see it start to impact people and start to get legs.

And yes, even though we spend a considerable amount of time building the business, we still make sure to find some time to get out on the boat to fish and relax.
