Remember, target them in shallow water near structure (bonus points if there’s deep water or a point close by), use small baitfish or shrimp lures, and target wind-blown shorelines when it’s warm out.

Please forgive my ignorance but, can y’all explain over and under “slot” terminology?
Tony, Do you know what happen to the grass in your area? Florida needs to do more to protect its water. Right now, it’s ignorant what they’re dumping into Tampa Bay.
Never mind… The same old problems blamed again. Fertilizer, septic tank and road run off. Where’s is the protections for water sheds in Florida? The State of Maine does an excellent job of protecting the quality of ground, pond, river, stream, lake and ocean waters. The only problem is the water bottling companies buying up all of the ground water from crooked politicians.
great report guys! Toni i fished mosquitolaggoon and the banana river a bunch when i lived there.sorry to hear the shape that area is in now!The grass in that area 8yrs ago was unreal! I moved 4;5 yrs ago from indian river county when that area just started

I’m fishing the west coast of Florida and we are still having cooler mornings 50, 60 degrees. For fishing at daylight, would you all say target trout first thing and then goto the red fish and snook after it warms up? say a couple or hours after it starts to warm up??
Yes! Typically the redfish bite picks up when the shallows warm up a hit and the reds start poking around up there. The trout bite also tends to be best early morning (topwater is starting to turn up now) so that’s usually how I slot my time.
Tony, your insights are unreal. I’ve been catching fish in areas as you described that I’ve been able to pattern over countless hours, but you gave some insights as to WHY those fish are there and that really helps connect the dots.

Great topic, thanks guys. Reds are the hardest to find and catch for me.
They can be tough to learn but once you study and practice patterning them in, you’ll get the hang of it quick! They’re a surprisingly predictable fish (on most days!)
I don’t care how good the fishing is.
You will NEVER find me in a place called Mosquito Lagoon!
