Will weather stand in the way of Pat and I chasing an inshore slam in Panacea?
Last week, Fishing Coach Pat Ogletree and I set out to catch an inshore slam on a day where the forecast was a bit shaky.
In spite of a rocky forecast, we still had a great day out there!

This trip started out on a glass calm day with barely any wind.
As the sun started to rise higher in the sky, I switched over from a Moonwalker to subsurface soft plastic lures.
I decided to move on from trying to trigger strikes on finicky redfish along the grass line while Pat stayed back.
Sometimes it can be hard to move on from a spot you know is holding fish but it can be a good idea to move on and if you want to, you can come back to that spot later on.
The reason is these fish may feel a bit more pressured and unwilling to fully commit to your lures.
Pat eventually did hook into the redfish he had been waiting for!
Even though the flounder I caught almost spit the hook right near my kayak, I was able to scoop it up in the net for a picture.
At this point, Pat and I were both a trout away from an inshore slam.
Then, after looking at our new Smart Fishing Spots App, the storms we were worried about appeared to be going right around us.
Later that day, I hooked into a nice speckled trout to complete the inshore slam.

Conclusion
Staying on top of current trends and what is going on in your area will set you up for success each time out on the water.
Once you master targeting each species at once and specialize with artificial lures, you can start to target inshore slams from start to finish on your trips.
