Pros & Cons
Sufix 832 Advanced Superline is 8 strands of smooth lines intertwined to form the braid.
The reason for the smoothness in the line is a result of the tightly woven strands of line.
7 of those 8 strands are what’s called HMPE material (High-Modulus Poly-Ethylene) which is fancy for “light and strong”.
As a matter of fact, this material is pound-for-pound 8-times stronger than steel.
I would place this line somewhere between the original PowerPro 4-strand and the Daiwa J-Braid x8 Grand.
This line is a lot smoother than PowerPro when moving through the guides.
It is not quite as smooth as the Daiwa line but is much quieter passing through the guides.
I’ve been personally using this line with spinning gear and have been impressed so far.
The line itself does not have the feeling of a “chord” or indicate any stiffness whatsoever.
It handles smoothly and will stay in place when your bail is open on the reel.
That will surely help monitor your line management and help reduce wind knots or general line tangles.
Note that the packaging of the line indicates “Abrasion Resistance”.
While that is a nice perk, most braided lines (including the Sufix 832) are not the best defense against abrasion which is why we use leader materials.

I might not even go back to PowerPro after using this line!!

I’ve been using 832 exclusively for more than 5 years. It’s the best. Lasts forever and I don’t get wind knots.

Been using Sufix 832 for about 1 1/2 years. Wind knots are virtually obsolete. Super durable. Don’t plan on changing!

I’ve tried countless braids since moving to Florida and starting this inshore fishing adventure 9 years ago. Once I found this Suffix 832, although I continued to experiment for a while, it’s the only braid I use now. I never noticed that it was more reasonably priced than the others because I like it better. It’s smooth, easy to tie, strong, and my knots all hold well. Especially the FG knot.
I prefer the coastal camo color, easier for me to see. I’m still happy to see that you’re now carrying my line in your shop, will give the hi vis yellow a try.

I’ve become partial to Yo-Zuri’s super braid. Although, I still have dozens of full spools of Power Pro. on the back burner
I have tried the Yo Zuri. Out of the box it seemed good. To me it felt like the diameter was bigger than the others in the same size. But other than that it performed well.
Good info, thanks Pat. What are your thought on the Power Pro V2? IMO, it is much smoother than the original PP. Also, what’s your reasoning for preferring low viz vs. high viz? Is it just a personal preference, or something more tactical? Thanks again!
Matt, I haven’t tried the V2 Power Pro but I’ve heard good things about it. It’s on the list to try now.
I like the green for because I’m my mind it’s less visible to the fish. But there’s been many tests done that line color doesn’t matter. I have the green in Power Pro and Suffix but the J Braid I have the grey, that’s just because I like the way it looks.

Power Pro is now a very old product. Not at all a bad line, just not a modern creation.
In Europe, Sufix products have a sound rep. for casting, braid and mono. I concur.
Not specialist super casters in either discipline but sound nevertheless.
I prefer hollow braids as I can splice them.
Sufix knots fine if you do it right. Bimini beats just about all.
Make loop attach leaders and change them after a good fish.
Remember, use tapered leaders when casting over a couple of ozs.
10lbs / oz at the business end or get sued.

I’m a big fan of the Daiwa J braid. Do you have any issues with your knots slipping with Sufix? I’ve had issues with”super line” before that it casts great but the knots slipped.

I haven’t had any issues at all with the slipping. I tie a FG knot and haven’t had any issues yet.
Hello Pat, I’m curious to know what lb braid do you use on your bait caster ?
Jesse, I use either 20 or 30 on the baitcasters. The larger diameter doesn’t hurt the casting distance like it does with spinning reels. Also the larger line won’t dig in as bad when you’re fighting a fish or hung up on structure.
