The Wake Mullet: New Shallow Running Lure For Inshore Anglers

After multiple years of testing and tweaking, we landed on what we believe is the ultimate shallow running plug for inshore anglers.

This lure is unique in that it casts extremely far and it creates its own action in the water that generates strikes so that you can effortlessly cover a lot of water while catching a lot of fish.

Best of all, you only need to just cast it out and reel it back in (no need for worrying about twitching the rod with perfect harmony).

The preliminary testing went better than any other lure we’ve had for redfish. And it has proven to do well for seatrout, snook, bass, and various other species too.

Here’s a video that shows how it works:

Even though this lure is brand new, it’s already one of our favorites to use in shallow water for big redfish and seatrout.

Fishing around oyster beds or shallow sea grass? No problem. The wake mullet buzzes right over the top grabbing fishes attention (and not grabbing the grass).

Why did we develop this lure??? We wanted a wake bait that looked more like a true mullet, and we didn’t like the options on the the market.

So, we took all the best benefits of the most popular topwater and subsurface lures and packed them into one small mighty mullet package.

✅ It’s size and shape is built perfectly to mimic finger mullet and mudminnows, giving you a tasty option for any predator fish.

✅ It casts a mile, has a tight wobble from the small bill, deep rattles to call in fish, and inline hooks to keep snags away but the fish on!

✅ The retrieve for this lure is super simple so it works great for all skill levels… just a straight reel back in is all that’s needed.

🔥 Unlike soft plastics, puffers and pinfish can’t destroy it! No more constantly replacing chewed-up baits. The Skinny Lipper comes with razor-sharp, SUPER-strong inline hooks that won’t bend (unlike cheap treble hooks). So when you’re hooked, you’re HOOKED.

Wake Mullet Specs:

  • Length: 3 inches
  • Weight: 0.56 oz
  • Depth Range: 0 to 8 inches
  • Size 1 saltwater grade single inline hooks

Guarantee:

We have tested this lure in various regions with different water clarities, and it has proven to get results, so we stand behind its performance. If you somehow don’t think this lure is a great addition to your arsenal, then just let us know that you’d like a refund and we’ll process it (max of just 1 lure refund per customer).

Bait looks good but I have had problems with inline hooks catching each other when they are as close together as on this bait. Anyone experiencing this problem ?

Got bass first day! 5 ish in heat on 19 acre lake. I get 45+ cranks casting bg3000 clone on 7 foot battle2 fast stiff pole. About same as your spooks. I cannot feel the action fwiw.

I wish to try 3+ gram heavier and 1/4 inch longer model. Also a 50 to 100 mil longer / wider lip model. (You can always grind smaller not bigger). Sorry to be specific but my lifes work was building microprocessors so they are either perfect or trash lol. I have got zero fish on skinny lipper and wake thing. A few on swim baits and mostly spooks. My 54 logged catches are fishbrain DSmith1957 fyi.

When tying this lure do you recommend a loop knot or a tight knot

Luke this may be a strange test but it would be interesting to take one of these lures and benchmark it against a straight jig and Slam Shady 2.0 to see how much seaweed each one catches. I spend way too much time (at least I think so!) having to tear off algae/seaweed/misc. junk off of my lures in the summer. This hinders my time and ability to catch fish since I never catch anything when a good amount of junk has been collected by my jig hook.
