Why This 4-in-1 Saltwater Travel Rod Changes Everything!

Is this the best saltwater travel rod ever made?

After years of traveling with clunky PVC pipes, bulky rod tubes, and too many setups crammed into checked bags… we finally said enough is enough.

So we built our own.

Introducing the Slam Stick Traveler, a 4-in-1 saltwater rod that breaks down into a carry-on case, floats with a 2500-size reel, and gives you full control over your power and action. It’s built for anglers who fish hard, travel light, and demand versatility.

In this video, you’ll see:

  • Why the 7’6” length matters more than you think (especially for kayak anglers)
  • How this rod floats without foam when paired with a light reel
  • The medium vs medium-light and fast vs moderate-fast options and how to swap them on the fly
  • A secret detail we borrowed from high-end fly rods to make rigging faster and easier

We also dive into the Slam Stick and the Slot Machine, explaining when to use each and who they’re built for.

The bottom line?

We put every rod through rigorous testing before it hits the store. Offshore reds, dock snook, big grouper, you name it, we fish them hard before recommending them.

I am so happy with my SS Traveler!

Wow am I glad I watched this podcast. I almost pulled the trigger on the new travel rod because I want one to just keep in the truck and to be able to safely take a rod to the beach when the back of the truck is full of the kids’ beach stuff, tent, cooler, etc, but I am torn between it and owning a medium heavy rod since I already have two medium set ups. Waiting for the upcoming medium/medium heavy option will take care of all my needs! Hopefully it won’t be too long before its rolled out!
What would be really cool is to lengthen the case a bit and add a small compartment with a zipper on the other end of the rod storage to put a reel in!

Great video guys! Quick question… what do you carry the reels in when you use this travel rod?

Reel can easily fit in regular bags and/or tackle boxes that we bring along on travel trips. Rods are longer than most bags and more fragile than most other items, so they need their own protective case so they don’t get damaged while on travel.
