The wait is OVER!
After selling thousands of our original Dr. Popper popping corks, we heard from a LOT of anglers about what they loved and what they wanted us to improve.
And we listened!
The result is the NEW Dr. Popper XT, a tougher, more durable popping cork with some exciting upgrades based directly on YOUR feedback.
Here’s what’s changed, why we made these improvements, and why I’m so excited about this new cork.
Featured Gear
A Stronger, Tougher Popping Cork
One of the things anglers loved most about the original Dr. Popper was its flexible shaft.
Unlike traditional rigid popping corks, you could bend it, and it would straighten right back out without permanently kinking.
We wanted to keep that feature while making the cork even tougher.
So we made one BIG change.
We replaced the original monofilament shaft with a flexible steel cable.
This gives the Dr. Popper XT some important advantages:
- Improved durability: The steel cable is tougher and more resistant to fraying.
- Flexible construction: Bend it, and it straightens right back out.
- Longer-lasting performance: Built to handle the wear and tear of repeated fishing trips.
You get the flexibility anglers loved about the original, but with a much tougher construction.
That’s where the XT comes in!
A Smarter Color Design for Spooky Fish
Here’s another improvement that came directly from angler feedback.
Not everyone fishes in dirty or murky water.
And when you’re targeting spooky redfish or trout in clear water, having a bright popping cork sitting directly above your bait isn’t always ideal.
We wanted to improve that without sacrificing visibility.
So we created a two-tone cork design.
Chartreuse on top: Still highly visible to YOU, even when you’re fishing at a distance.
White on the bottom: Designed to blend in better with the bright sky when fish look up from below.
The goal?
Make the cork easier for anglers to see while potentially making it less noticeable to fish.
It’s a simple change, but one that could make a difference when you’re fishing clear water or targeting pressured fish.
We’re Backing It With an Incredible Guarantee
I’m so confident that anglers are going to love the new Dr. Popper XT that we’re doing something pretty special.
If you buy the Dr. Popper XT and don’t like it, we’ll give you your money back.
But here’s the kicker…
YOU GET TO KEEP THE CORK!
That’s how confident we are in this new design.
We took the features anglers loved about the original Dr. Popper, improved the areas they told us needed attention, and built a cork we’re incredibly proud of.
And now we want YOU to put it to the test!

The new Dr. Popper XT combines the flexibility of the original with a tougher steel cable and an improved color design that’s better suited for a wider range of fishing conditions.
Best of all, these improvements came directly from YOUR feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s different about the new Dr. Popper XT?
The Dr. Popper XT features a stronger, flexible steel cable instead of the original monofilament shaft. It also has an improved two-tone color design with a chartreuse top and white bottom to help reduce the chance of spooking fish.
Why does the Dr. Popper XT have a white bottom?
The white bottom is designed to blend in with the sky when fish look up from below. This may help make the cork less noticeable to spooky fish, especially in clear water.
Is the Dr. Popper XT more durable than the original?
Yes! The new steel cable construction is designed to be tougher and more resistant to fraying while maintaining the flexible design anglers loved about the original Dr. Popper.
Does the Dr. Popper XT come with a guarantee?
Yes! If you purchase the Dr. Popper XT and aren’t satisfied, Salt Strong will refund your money and let you keep the cork.

As an SS lifer along the east coast north of Florida; Georgia, SC and NC we are always looking for poppers that are reliable. Our tides shift up to 9’ and adjustable popping corks are used frequently among anglers here. Next time around the marketing department, study them and see what you can come up with. We’re always looking for the ‘better idea’.
XT for the win! Love the XT prawns, so this should be great also!
Nice!!! Great upgrades!
I always throw a popping cork. Early morning light ripple on the water and an outgoing tide in and around small cuts into the marsh. Have caught some nice big redfish like this.
Never really did to much on popping corks and actually never really seen anyone else catching anything worth using them either in years past I have seen alot of anglers use popping corks with both live bait and lures but never saw any fish of great size caught with them I myself used to use them when I first started fishing inshore saltwater with live shrimp and caught fish but nothing of any good size and have tried using lures with them to but still nothing in my opinion to keep using them and I have tried a number of different brands of popping corks but still the same results but this year especially since I found alot of truths and techniques in my night fishing i have turned my inshore fishing during the summertime into a total nocturnal sport to many crowds and in my opinion people that don’t belong on the water by day and so I go at night and catch my fair share avoiding the crazy people of the day not to mention the heat so yea its a long story but bottom line for me popping corks are just not my thing thanks for your input and all you do😉🤔👍
