Some great insights. I rarely find myself on a pier fishing anymore but when I have I’m guilty of just what you said. Instead of dropping down beside the structure I’d cast out to who knows what. Moving on from a dead zone is another good one to remember

my aha moment came when I realized I was making too much noise in my kayak. I retired to FL and started fishing salt for the first time. We can make some noise up North in our boats or kayaks but not down here! Thanks for the great tips!

The saying in our family has always been, “stick and move, baby”. We never stayed in one spot very long if the bite wasn’t there.

No doubt the live and fresh bait is best. Like you said I bought a bag of mullet and guess what my wife caught a big RAY, Pat it was a pleasure meeting you last Saturday.

Great tips Pat! Does the same technique apply to freshwater fishing? Do freshwater fish like the same kind of structure as saltwater fish?
