Key Takeaways
- Cut the tail off—it will keep your bait from spinning
- Hook through the narrow side of the bait so it’s more streamlined in the current
- Make sure there’s not a scale on your hook point
- Avoid hooking through the middle of the body
- Don’t forget the head—it’s one of the best parts!

Thank you so much for this video. My fiahing buddy and I are 2 fresh water fishermen just finding our way in the world of salt water fishing. We have been making discoveries each week. Found this video this past week and it was very helpful. Changed the way I attach chunk bait. Yesterday, I hooked into 4 3′ sharks, They weren’t keepers but definitely put up a good fight. Hi Tony. Can we get a video on how to catch the bigger mullet besides a cast net? Maybe on a hook? Mullet don’t seem to take small minnows. Maybe a fly on a fly rod?
Hey Mark! I see people catch them on oats. I’ll do some digging around and see what I can do!
