On Day 2 of fishing with Wounded Warrior Scott Lilley, we woke up early, put on sunscreen (most of us at least), and went offshore to catch some grouper off of Boca Grande.
After catching and releasing a handful of grouper, we headed back in to have an amazing lunch at the Boca Grande Marina (aka Miller’s Marina).
On the way there, we came across a family of dolphins that wanted to play, and Scott was so close to them he was almost able to pet them.
Then at lunch, the four of us (Luke, myself, Scott, and his buddy Brandon) filled up, had a bloody mary/beer, and then hit the water again to go back inshore for some snook and trout.
Scott “The Snook Slayer” then went medieval on the sea trout, catching two monster trout in a row on the grass flats.
Did I mention it was his first time ever catching sea trout as well (this guy has a gift for catching big fish).
We even had one of the trout “puke” up an old half-digested mullet while Luke was handling him. I believed we laughed about that for a few hours and quickly gave Luke the nickname, “Luke the Puke…”
Finally, we headed back to the house to get more water and to pick up Andrew and our friend Candace for some sunset snook fishing.
We caught a couple and then headed back in for another big feast.
After more stories, and teaching Scott and Brandon how to play the board game Sequence, we finally hit the sack to get ready for Day 3…
