Have you tried this fishing line cutting ring called, “Line Cutterz” yet?
I remember seeing the founder on the hit TV show, Shark Tank, and I kept wondering if these rings were any good.
So, I finally picked up a couple to try out.
Here’s what I think so far:
Pros Of The Line Cutterz Tool
- The blade is super sharp
- It fits on any finger and it’s pretty comfortable (didn’t get in my while fishing)
- It cut through all types of fishing line with problems
- Very convenient
- It only costs $10-$13
Cons Of The Line Cutterz Tool
- It won’t replace the need for a good pair of pliers
- It has a tough time cutting line really close to the lure/hook (like tag ends, etc)
- It can’t help you get a hook out of a fish’s mouth like a pair of pliers
- The blades are somewhat exposed, so if you have any slack line get into the ring, it’s bye-bye lure and/or fish

Conclusion
Although this Line Cutterz product won’t replace the need for a good pair of pliers, it is a really handy tool (pun intended) to have for quick line cuts.
And at the price range of $10-$13, it’s not going to break the bank.

I was glad to see that the blade was incredibly sharp and had no problem slicing through braid, mono, or fluoro with just one clean swipe of the line.

I lost a black bomber lure casting with one of those rings on my rod. Though I placed it on a safe spot.
Bummer! Definitely a downfall if your line happens to get in that ring. They should maybe make one that has a cap on it.
Good review, but not sure about concerns with cutting tag ends off?? I fly fish most of the time, and I can get right up to line without any trouble.
Thanks for the review!
I love my LineCutterz Ring????????.
Hey Vincent,
It actually can cut pretty close as long as you have enough tag end to hold onto. Took me a little getting used to as I normally keep the tag end as short as possible so I’m not wasting too much leader.
Any problems cutting your line by accident? Maybe it may catch on your line if it’s blowing around?
Yep I had that happen once. I set the hook on a fish, the fish started coming at me so I was cranking really fast to pick up line and it was pretty windy and the slack line hit the ring. I learned from that mistake very quick! Just have to be aware of where your line is.
Thanks! Just be happy it wasn’t your fly line. I did that once with a cigarette. Just one more reason to quit.
Great vid Tony but I started using the boomerang tool several years ago and I love it its on a lanyard so you can clip it to your belt but what I do is I bought a very cheap shower curtain hook and then put the clip on the ring of the boomerang tool to attach to my belt its also very sharp in fact I still use the same one had it for 4 years still sharp as ever and this easily cuts the line as close as you need it and it’s blades close up keeping them sharp by just squeezing the handles very convenient and iexspensive at about 10 bucks each plus the blades are stainless steel so they don’t rust in saltwater????
I’ll have to check that out. Thanks Steve!
Love this tool, Inexpensive enough to have a few,and even Bought some for my fishing Buddies! Cuts super close to the finished knot!
