The Travel Rod That Feels Like a One-Piece (On-The-Water)

Travel rods are convenient, but can they really perform like a quality 1-piece rod?

You might be surprised.

In this on-the-water field test, I’ll show you the secrets to how this new travel rod can go toe-to-toe with your favorite one-piece rod.

So you can see that not all travel rods fish like the “wet noodles” you remember from the past.

Hi, looking at getting a new rod but I only really have room for rods that break into 2 pieces. Is the travel rod the only option? Seems like the rest are 1 piece.

I’ve been using the Traveler as my main rod since July and I love it. Feels great in my hands, cast far, and most of all the versatility of this rod is awesome!

Before I bought a skiff, we flew to Florida from Pennsylvania and brought travel rods with us. I honestly noticed little or no difference between the 3 piece rods and the rods we use now. They fit perfectly in our checked luggage. One heads up traveling, my son had his travel rods stolen at the security check in at Logan International. So they are easily picked up I guess.

I’m sure it’s nice, but 33″ means it’s too long to fit in a suitcase, so you’re stuck checking it as its own bag and then you might as well use a 2 piece.

I’m sure the $60 kastking isn’t as nice, but the 7’6″ one is 23″ long (4 piece) and fits in a standard carry-on. And the 8’6″ is still only 26″ and fits in a large checked suitcase. And you don’t have to worry about leaving a $450 combo in the trunk.

Pat nice video as usual! I’m always trying to figure out where you were? What beach this time?

I bought the travel rod for my son (he’s also my fishing buddy). He absolutely loves it! The versatility & ability to change out is easy. He keeps it in his truck for quick access. Definitely recommend. I might even get me one. I have the Slam Stick combo & seriously considering the Slot combo.

Hey Pat. Just got mine for Father’s Day. Should I remove the clear plastic from the cork handle?
