STOP Ignoring These Manmade Structures (They’re Fish Magnets!)

You’ve heard the word “structure” thrown around a lot, but let’s break it down.

Structure isn’t just a fancy term for rocks or reefs. It’s anything that disrupts the flat bottom, and it’s a fish magnet for three very simple reasons: comfort, food, and safety.

Whether it’s a giant bridge, a dock, or even a small channel marker, these spots give fish exactly what they need to thrive.

Knowing where to fish within these structures (and when) is the real secret sauce.

I cover all the details in my latest video. From lure selection to tide strategies, you’ll discover why manmade structures are a must-fish for your next trip.

Check it out and post questions in the comments below!

Get the recommended gear used in this video so you too can make the most of these fish-magnets:

Prawn USA Jr.  – Perfect for bouncing around any structure, especially in winter.

Prawn USA Original – Bigger shrimp for bigger fish.

Prawn USA Bundle – The shrimp lures and jigs that will help you catch fish from the shallows to the deep.

Weedless Football JigMake your lures nearly snag-proof so you can catch fish right on the structures.

Tight lines, and see you out on the water!

Great insight pat you nailed it just like the 90/10 zone without structure you might as well be trying to fish out of your bathtub but of coarse if you are in the 90/10 zone there WILL be structure these 2 go together like bread and butter so to speak i have never really caught a whole lot of fish around bridges unless its at night around the bridge lights but I know they can be great fish magnets I noticed there was a navy arly Burke class destroyer pictured for a brief moment in your video when you were talking about petties just curious was this section filmed in mayport fl by the jettys? It seems like it was because unless you were in another state I can only recall one navy base that has ships coming in and out and thats mayport the same base I retired out of on a navy frigate the uss Robert g Bradley ffg-49 back in 2002 anyways I gotta quit watching these videos for a while until I get my boat back after it’s fixed it’s making me depressed seeing you guys on the water and me just wishing and not fishing with the rest of you anyways thanks for the great info and insight you really know your stuff and thanks for all you do at saltstrong 😉👍

Pat, as always, that was a great and informative video. I am still surprised at the number of fishermen (?) I see who avoid structure for fear of snagging up!

The sun heating up the structure/seawalls is something I forget in the cold, thanks Pat!
