Every time I hit the water, whether wading, kayaking, or on the boat, there’s always a story to be told. The challenge? Finding a camera that doesn’t get in the way and can handle the unpredictable saltwater environment. Insta360’s action cameras have quickly earned a spot on our trips, not because it’s flashy but because it’s made documenting these trips easier and a whole lot more fun.
We have had the team testing out their products for a few months now, and here are some of our takeaways on the top 3 products they offer for saltwater anglers. Let us know if you would like to see FULL reviews on each of the products below.
Insta360 X4 – For the Full Story
The X4 is all about getting that 360° view, which means I can fish without worrying about missing the action. I usually pop it on a chest mount when I’m wading in the flats or just let it roll from the deck when I’m on the boat. There are also a ton of mounting options. This is probably the most rugged model they offer for saltwater fishing. It’s waterproof up to 33ft without an additional case. Later, I can reframe the footage from any angle. There’s nothing like showing friends the full scene—from the cast to the catch—without stressing over the shot in the moment.

Insta360 GO3s – Lightweight and Hands-Free
If you’re like me and want something that won’t weigh you down, the GO3s is a solid pick. I clip it to my hat or strap it on my vest, and I barely notice it’s there while casting. They also make a necklace attachment so you can clip it on top of your shirt with zero mounting needs. It’s a dream for kayakers or anyone who wants to keep things light and simple. Plus, it holds up well against splashes and the salty air. It may be tiny, but it catches everything I need to remember the day and share those moments with family, friends, and followers who couldn’t make it.

Insta360 Ace Pro – Well Rounded Traditional Action Camera
The Ace Pro is built tough with splash protection and rugged lens guards, ideal for the saltwater environment. Its 4K clarity lets me capture everything in vivid detail, from my surroundings to each catch. The Ace Pro’s extended battery life is also a plus for those long days, letting me record without constantly checking power levels. It’s reliable, resilient, and keeps my focus on fishing, not fiddling.

Why Insta360 Works for Our Fishing Style
Insta360’s action cams have earned their place in my pile of gear I set up the night before because it fits seamlessly into how I fish. It’s built to take on saltwater and has the right tools for every setup. Compared to other cameras I’ve tried, like the GoPro, Insta360 just gives me more options to get creative without complicating things. If you’re looking to document your trips, it’s worth a try—you might just capture the trip of a lifetime!

I use a GoPro 8 when I film some trips out on the water. Any of these options🔝better than a GoPro?
Great stuff Team!!! Glad to see the partnership 🙂
Thank you for another great discount partner
Thank you, for this information I’ll have to look at the standard bundles however as far as accessories not sure which one to go for with fishing. Of course I believe they are waterproof
Awesome!! look great and on camera now.
We’ve had the go3s for a year or so now and love it. We use it for content creation for our business but also take it out fishing and my wife uses it to get footage of her open water swims. The battery life on the actual camera without the attachment is low, so it’s not perfect, but it’s a great all around camera.
My son gifted me one a couple of years ago. They are absolutely amazing. It takes a little getting used to the editing software but you can get angles and videos you never thought possible. You can catch footage of a fish that’s taking you all around the boat without worry of missing it.
I usually mount mine on the rail above the center console.
Which model, the X4?
These camera’s look great, I have been looking at the go-pro’s and the insta360 I am now leaning toward the Insta360 thanks for the information on these cameras.
