My thinking was the fast incoming tide would spark a bite.

Before the tide came in, the objective was to use finesse presentations in shallow areas to see if any fish would strike.

I was able to pick off a few trout but the blue skies and heavy water flow really made it difficult on the day.

Hours later, after throwing too many different lures, I tied on a Gulp! lure and hooked into something I’ll remember for a long time!

A school of beautiful redfish were hanging around a point.

I plucked one off and it tried to dart right back to spook out the entire school.

So I backed out as quickly as I could to give myself another shot at the other fish.

Once I released that fish, I pushed deeper and deeper into the tall grass until I was able to see the rest of the school.

Amongst the bugs and thick muddy grass, I was able to find another decent fish!

Conclusion

Pushing back through the tall grass when there’s more water than normal is an excellent way to get tight lines.

Odds are the fish will push back into the tall grass in search of baitfish, shrimp, and other crustaceans.

It was a grind but I was able to have a successful trip!
