http://beach%20fishing%20in%20the%20fall

Beach fishing in the Fall season sure can be a blast! And the trip you’ll see below is no exception.

I was fishing with Capt. B. Robertson and we got into an incredibly active bite from a variety of species with sizes ranging from around 6 ft long down to 6 inches.

Best of all, he shared some extremely helpful tips including the following:

  • How to select a good spot to beach fish in the Fall
  • What baits and equipment to use
  • What to do if catfish are prevalent
  • How to cook pompano and palometa

Note: Make sure to watch until the end so you see the helpful Q&A section.

Equipment Used:

Here’s the equipment I was using during this trip:

Note: We typically use Fish Gum on the hooks in addition to the shrimp, but the fish were so aggressive that it wasn’t needed this trip.

Conclusion

Beach fishing sure can be fun when the right spot is chosen and the right bait is being used.

The textbook-looking spot that we fished sure proved to be a 90/10 zone given so much action took place in under 2 hours of fishing.

If you’d like to hire Capt. B. for a charter, here’s his number: (321) – 424 – 4119 (call or text).

Please leave any beach fishing related questions you have below so that I can make sure we cover them on our next trip.

We’d love to hear from you!

Great information! I am excited to be moving to Fl next month, from Alaska to Tampa Bay, where are the good spots for surf fishing in this area?Any area specific tips that would help a beginner?

We fish from shore most times and the surf is the best way to go. Sure hope it stays around for a while. Thank you, Luke!

Very informative video Luke. As noted in an earlier post, I would love to see a beach fishing video on the west coast of Florida, Specifically, in the Englewood and Boca Grand area. Thanks.

This was great – and timely!

Serious Question: Going to Nags Head this weekend for a weeks worth of Surf Fishing…what is the proper footwear for this time of year?

I went to Nags head this time of year last year. I was comfortable with boots and waders. This weekend looks pretty warm, so sandals should be fine. The water will be cold though. Good Luck! Hopefully you can snag some drum!

Great video, I hope that as SS ramps up on beach fishing that beaches like Honeymoon Island on the gulf coast in Dunedin can get some coverage. I have caught whiting there and others have caught snook and seatrout. Catching smaller but legal and tasty fish like you did on the east coast is fun, relaxing and great table fare. Also, stuff kids and grandkids can be a part of while enjoying the beach. Thanks

Great video, the live Q&A was a nice touch. Maybe for the next beach session include the pre trip plans. Beach selection, arrival time based on tides or time of day, high impact vs low impact beach – ideal water temp, finding clean water ….

enjoyed the entire video. I spend more time in the surf than I do the inland sound. Also enjoy the recipes and cleaning tips.
