Once again I want to thank you & Luke for creating, nuturing, & growing Salt Strong ! You have provided the Insider members a treasure of indepth fishing educational materials that I don’t believe is or ever has been even attempted by anyone & is unrivaled.. Have you been or are you perfect, of course not. HOWEVER, you never stop trying to make Salt Strong better. I wish & hope members can understand & comprehend that you Brothers, along with a growing yet, small staff, compared to most if not all of the MAJOR players in the industry, have excelled in accomplishing so much in such a short time. When I read or hear someone ask why this or how come that hasn’t been done; my friends, it isn’t because Joe & Luke aren’t giving 100% PLUS. Anyone who has run a business understands the myriad of glitches, problems, mistakes, & bumps in the road there are & those that SUCCEED are the ones who are continuously adjusting & trying to make things better for their CUSTOMERS & in this case, SALT STRONG FAMILY MEMBERS !!!! So, if an order is a little late, a product is out-of-stock, or a position doesn’t get filled quickly, PLEASE, try & have a bit of understanding & patience. If all that Joe & Luke have done & continue to accomplish was so EASY, surely it would have been done a long time ago. That’s 2 cents worth from a long time fisherman who is still LEARNING the game & former business owner. My best to all, there are GREAT things about to happen !!!!!

Joe and Luke, you’ve done a magnificent job! You asked for feedback, and here’s some:

  1. IT and AI is important, and substantial growth of IT staff seems to indicate your priorities. The “Career Opportunities” announcement makes no mention of searching for fishing coaches. With two gone this year and no replacements, it doesn’t seem this is an area of focus.
  2. At first of year, Joe did a podcast where he talked about having fishing coaches fish outside their customary areas. Great idea but not put into practice. Nearly every FL east coast fishing session is about the northern IRL or Mosquito Lagoon. It’s one reason the weekend game plans discuss the patterns and trends, and say to apply them across the entire FL east coast which spans roughly 450 miles. When a person was selected to fish with a coach, it was the same area that the coach fishes instead of going to a different area. Many of these fisheries are very different such as habitat, tidal flow, and different species having abundance (e.g., redfish north of Sebastian less so south of there). It’s like saying to apply the patterns and trends of the FL west coast or GA, SC, NC because they’re all the same. SS has moved past the notion that trends and patterns apply to all local fisheries as it sought growth outside inshore Florida waters to other states, newer focus on nearshore, and offering an array of different colored baits due to “local demand”. Hopefully, this idea gets put into practice.
  3. You don’t need to rush out something new when it’s not ready for prime time. IT philosophy seems to promote getting product (apps, web re-design) out due to short shelf life and then further develop it and bug removal on the fly. Apple seems to be a company who leans heavily on beta testing and product feedback before formally launching their products, and their repeat customers reward them for taking a different tack.
  4. Community page IT housekeeping should help to better organize content and remove marketing clutter. That’s a good move although now needing to go back and clean up stuff. More organization and better ways to archive content (especially “Fishing Tips”) based on user preference would also be a step in the right direction. Nearly impossible to find a particular article among more than 3,000 by searching through several hundred articles that come up on a search. It seems like an inordinate amount of resources goes into creating new content when nearly identical content has already been produced (i.e., repetition). With focus on growing membership to 200,000 by 2025, a lot of newcomers are beginning anglers so they appreciate basic “Fishing Tips” but that takes away from producing better content for Insiders whom are long term members. In other words, why reinvent the wheel when it already exists?

Thank you, Joe and Luke, for creating Salt Strong! I agree it is the most helpful online fishing group of all time. You mentioned if we had suggestions for improvements, please feel free to leave a comment. I have a few suggestions.

1: Is it possible in the chapter pages to pin a post to the top, like a featured post? This way, the leadership team could post information for the chapter, and it doesn’t get lost in all the fishing reports.

2: The new members are posted in the membership directory every week. Can they be sorted by location? I am asking as since I took over the chapter president spot, I go through the list of new members every weekend and personally welcome the new members in my area. I want to sort them so it doesn’t take so long to review the new members.

3: Can we set up a feature to create a post that would only show up on the chapter pages? This would help reduce any confusion when putting out chapter-specific information.

I will agree you guys are a pretty great inshore fishing club even though I have never been a member to another one to compare to and even though I do reports in the community about my fishing trips if I’m successful I have found that I’m the last several years basically since covid starred because of the high amount of anglers now in our waterways I don’t really share my locations anymore like I did right before covid because it seems like when I do everybody and there brother goes there and there’s nothing sacred anymore and even though I try and help and give advice to alot of anglers I meet and talk to I love my privacy as well I like having locations that few people know about I mean really who likes crowds when they first get on the water not me that’s for sure it always makes me wonder when I see 2 or 3 guys hanging together following each other in there yaks or boats well I’m not a crowd guy never have been and never will be I love my solitude and peace and quiet I get from my inshore fishing alot of people love crowds and alot of noise to me I get enough of that at work and also now that I’ll be 60 in about a little less then 2 months its not all about catching fish for me anymore when I was younger yes but anymore its the peace and quiet and escaping all the big city crazies with just me God and the fish just the way I like it thanks for the info Joe and all you do😉👍

I really and truly believe it is. My life is better because I can really enjoy fishing-catching!
Without the explicit, organized baseline knowledge I’ve recieved, I NEVER EVER would have been as successful and satisfied as I have been. I just mean I’m not clueless. That makes a massive massive difference with my fishing experience and psyche👍
