The Salt Strong Alliance and the positive environmental impacts ahead are surly in the works to improve our fisheries and the overall quality of life on and near the water. Most of our population lives near the water so in my eyes, most of the population will be enriched by improvements to our waters. I am proud to be a part of Salt Strong and look forward to being a part of this positive endeavor for our, and future generations. We are ready to dive in when the green light comes on.
I think of the clams and oysters as a gift from Mother Nature as the worker bees of our saltwater and realize that other environmental groups are presently adding to the oyster restoration in Tampa Bay and other coastal regions. The clam project seems like a great addendum to this as well. I presume that there will be some areas that may not be suitable for clams, so with that in mind, if those areas are shallow enough for oysters if the biology will support them, would it be possible to be on board to seed oysters in those areas? I would think water depth and salinity would be some of the critical criteria involved. Just thought that while the research is being done for clams, the same question could be made for oysters if the biology would not support clams in a particular area. Thanks for the podcast and look forward to updates. This is really exciting news. Glad to be a member of the Tampa and St. Pete. chapters.

Thanks Jan for your input! You are truly a valued member of our Chapters and while you are correct in pointing out that Clams may not be suitable for all locations, however, that is the exact purpose of identifying pilot locations first and relying on our marine biology experts to hone in on exactly what features we may be able to construct, install or plant to best enhance the clean water and fisheries in Tampa Bay. Thank you for your input and support!!
