Hard baits in shallow water grass?
Not the first thing you would think of throwing, but a lure that floats can help keep you from getting snagged up on the grass on the bottom.
In this video you’ll be seeing a new lure that can work very well in these conditions and how to use it effectively.
Enjoy!

I just got mine today. Can’t wait to try it on some shallow reef in my area.
Well Tony if any angler can make a lure work its you but to me in reality the skinny lipper series of inshore subsurface plugs are really not that different then the good old fashioned rapala plugs that have been around for almost a century I believe the first one was made sometime around the early 30s by Mr rapala (can’t remember his first name) they were first carved from balsa wood and the very first one was covered in the silver outside of a chewing gum wrapper made in finland this crude plug was found to be able to catch a very wide assortment of fish and from then on it was history in the making and I have found they perform pretty much the same as the skinny lipper because of there limited depth range I have found in some cases when the tide is about as high as it will go but still moving on the incoming tide if I throw one over an oyster bar and retrieve it like the skinny lipper the same results can be achieved great for both reds and trout but the one thing I do like that the rapalas don’t have is they donot come in a mullet hd color so yes while I do use rapalas I still do have the skinny lippers as well and plan on buying a few of the jrs in the new mullet hd color and while on the subject of color I hope they add a couple other colors I like and use that the regular sized skinny lipper is in like the gold and green and silver and black and one of my favorites for night fishing the black and purple because I have found the slam shady color doesnt perform as well here in northeast fl like it does for you and others in clear water in central and south fl anyways just have to wait and see thanks for the info and all you do😉🤔👍
Rapala’s are great! I still use them for freshwater and sometimes in the saltwater.
Tony do you think the regular Lipper would work fished like this also?
Yes, I have used the regular size and the XL in the same way. The biggest problem is if you have a lot of floating/loose grass in the area that gets caught on your line and eventually slides down onto the lure. All of the sizes of the lure work the same, just a matter of what the fish want – big or small!
Thanks Tony ! I know what I’m throwing next!
You’re welcome Mark!
Thank you Tony! Good to know it will float back to the top for a shallow water retrieve.
You’re welcome Trent!
