3 Tricks To CATCH Saltwater Fish In The Winter [PODCAST]

Winter fishing can be TOUGH, right? The cold air, the slower fish, and the dreaded “lockjaw” myth make it easy to believe that catching redfish, trout, or snook this time of year is next to impossible. Trust me, we used to think the same thing!

But guess what? Winter fishing isn’t just doable—it can be downright AWESOME if you know what to do.

In our latest podcast, Luke and I break down 3 simple tricks that will not only help you catch more fish this winter but also make you wonder why you ever dreaded fishing in the cold. These tips are tried-and-true, and best of all, they’re easy to follow, no matter your skill level.

Here’s a Sneak Peek of What You’ll Learn:

1️⃣ Why Going Deep Matters (But Not in the Way You Think)
Winter fish love deep water, but it’s all about relative depth. We’ll show you how finding small trenches and deeper pockets can unlock the honey holes where fish are stacking up.

2️⃣ The Power of Slowing Things Down
Lethargic winter fish won’t chase a fast-moving lure, but they will crush a slow, steady presentation. We’ll share our favorite lures and retrieve styles for cold-weather success. Spoiler alert: Patience is key!

3️⃣ How “Low” Can You Go?
Winter fish are glued to the bottom, where the water is warmer and structure offers protection. We’ll talk about why keeping your lure low (and sometimes just letting it sit) is the ultimate strategy for consistent strikes.

Got the trout going in Cayo Costa bay which provided a wind break from 15-20 mph winds. No lack of hits on slam shady 2.0 but they hit softly. Happy with action and a take home 17” trout. Thanks for the tips and education!

Thanks guys. You answered my #1 challenge question. Finding the fish. I love the idea of slow and low. I will try that the next time on the waters.
