Dave is a wade fishing guide so most of, if not all, of his trips are on foot.
There are several advantages to wade fishing.
The first being STEALTH.
You can sneak up on fish and avoid spooking them a bit easier than from a boat.
Additionally, you can cover water more thoroughly and methodically to find the fish.
Wind is also not a factor.
You won’t get moved around and blown out of your spot by the wind.
However, there is ONE glaringly obvious disadvantage to wade fishing.
That’s having direct access to where the feeding fish are going to be.
Dave’s #1 Tip for wade anglers out there is to use an inexpensive kayak to get out to inaccessible spots.
These do not need to be fully rigged out inshore kayaks.
The simpler, the better.
It is a quick and easy way to extend your range so you can fish those spots off in the distance you wouldn’t normally be able to get to.
If you do a lot of wade fishing, be sure to look further into getting a kayak to increase your range!

I primarily fly fish fresh and saltwater, in my kayak and wading. However, all I’ve seen is for the spinning rod. Is fly fishing addressed at all with Salt Strong?

Excellent tool. I’ve been wanting one a kayak but recently took advantage of the salt strong discount on the Seamule for holding my tackle and rods while out there Wade fishing.im REALLY wanting to load my kayak on my boat and go out to a few spots, beach the boat and kayak some back water flats.
Pat good video and if you know where to go here in northern part of Florida the Jacksonville area in particular good idea but for the most part not to practical as we have more mud and not so much sand and grassy areas but they do exist if you look for them …
Yea well pat unfortunatly here in northeast fl where the bottom content is about at least 95 percent mud this idea in reality is NOT an option I recently viewed Luke’s 30 day challenge school videos and he mentioned now that there is a new feature on the spots app showing all the public as well as private water accesses that anglers can use well I looked for some in the spots I normally fish with not very much luck and u should know I have been fishing inshore saltwater for 20 plus years now and pretty much know the bottom content in each of the areas I fish and wading spots are extremely limited unless obviously your at the beach I see and know most of the rest of florida there are tons of spots considering most of the bottom content is made up of sand versus mud here in northeast fl but that’s allright I’m not a wade angler anyhow but know of 1 spot that can be and has been productive for me in the past a very rare find located in the st johns river located by a park that I take my dog to pretty much every weekend there is a very long line of docks in this area and it is located by one of the many bridges that are located in and around the city of jacksonville unlike the majority of the st johns river this area has a pretty good long stretch that has a mostly sandy bottom that has mud mixed in with it but it is wade safe In fact there is one particular dock that I know that I have never seen anybody fish but me that has a small dock partition that is mounted to the side of the main dock and this partition has a big shell mound that is almost directly underneath it and one day about 12 years ago when I first discovered this dock because as long as I have been fishing inshore saltwater I have always fished docks because I know how good in certain times they can be well that day it was amazing I launched at the park that has a kayak launch that is about 200 yards from this dock and got within about 75 yards from it and staked out my yak I knew the bottom was wade friendly because of the numerous other times in the past that I had trolled this area for trout in the winter months this area is a great trolling place anyways I got out of my yak and waded to about 10 yards from the dock and began pitching spinnerbaits underneath and on about every other cast was hooked up and landed about 10 to 12 SLOT sized reds yea no rats here but good quality strong legal reds it was amazing at that time the limit was 2 because in 2012 they had just changed the limit from 1 since they first introduced redfish as a gamefish status in 1989 so I kept my 2 and released the other 10 or 8 can’t remember other then I know I caught at least 10 I have never caught that many in a row legal reds so fast in all my life and you know what? They were all located swimming around that shell mound just by and a little under that dock since then on occasion if fishing that area I ALWAYS fish that dock and since then have caught other reds under it but never like that glorious day back in about 2012 on a hot late June day but really that’s the only area I really know about but there is another good area but that’s in at augustine not here anyways pat just saying in this part of the state it can be tough fishing inshore saltwater without either a boat or a yak I have found that most public fishing docks here in jacksonville are pretty crowded and the fishing is so so plus the fact that since 2016 when hurricane mathew then Erma in 2017 destroyed and uprooted all the seagrass that was limited in this part of the st johns river the much needed structure is now gone so docks are pretty much the only structure available now at least in the area I just described anyways thanks for the info and all you do👍😀🤔
