If you want the easiest way to catch trout in creeks…
It’s not covering more water.
It’s not switching lures.
And it’s definitely not random casting.
There’s a simple setup inside these creeks that concentrates fish in one spot…
And once you see it…
You’ll realize how many fish you’ve been passing by.
Watch below to see exactly how to fish these creek setups (and start catching more fish on your next trip)!
FEATURED GEAR:
- Lure 1: Prawn USA Jr.
- Lure 2: 2.0 Paddletail
- Rigging: Hoss Round Eye 2/0 1/8oz
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- The easiest trout fishing comes from targeting choke points, not open water
- Moving water creates a natural feeding funnel
- Outgoing tide: let your bait drift naturally with the current
- Incoming tide: adjust positioning to keep your presentation natural
- Rotate through multiple creeks until you find active fish
FINAL THOUGHTS
This is about making things simple.
Instead of guessing where fish might be…
You’re fishing where they have to be.
That’s what makes this one of the easiest and most consistent ways to catch trout in creeks.

Pat, thanks so much, you’ve always got great tips!
Glad you like them!
While this tactic does work alot of the times I definatly would NOT say its perfect because in the past I have fished every drain in an area in good tides whether it be incoming or outgoing tide and all these drains have structure and cover in them and I also keep it simple usually throwing what you throw either a small paddletail or shrimp lure my preference being the chasebaits flick prawn because its light and drifts well with the tide you probably should of also mentioned that any creek mouth or drain if there are no birds present its usually a good indicator that the area is devoid of fish I have fished many creekmouths and drains that look fantastic but was devoid of activity simply because there were no birds present because just like saltstrong teaches birds, bait, and boils are key indicators of predatory fish in an area or close by thanks for your insight and all you do🤔
So true, not all drains hold fish. You have to move around.
Nice concise video, thanks!!
