I always love lures with a lot of action and decided to give the Egret Baits Vudu Mullet a try.
This is a segmented lure with a ton of action and movement in the tail. It looks good in the water and is very enticing to pickier fish.
I’ve definitely noticed some cons to this lure as well and have had to make some adjustments to it to get its best performance.
In this article, I review the Egret Baits Vudu Mullet and give you my top pros and cons for the lure.
I also show you what the lure looks like when you’re fishing it in the video review at the bottom of the article.

Conclusion
This is one of the best lures in terms of action. It looks great underwater and fish love the movement from the segmented tail.
I love that you can cast it far as well.
I’m not crazy about the hook and would suggest switching them out with an inline hook for better catch ratios.

Hey, I just saw this review. I have a few of these lures. They’re so tough it’s hard to lose them unless I get them hung up on and can’t free them. They catch a lot of fish but I don’t love how much damage the trebles can do. I want to replace them with inline hooks. Do you have a side recommendation? I have both the 3.5” and 4.5”.
Hey Jay!
A 2/0 may be best for the 3.5″ and a 3/0 for the 4.5″. Keep in mind sizes may vary by manufacturer even if its the same number.
That lure is so realistic, it’s got me caught but I hope it catches fish ! Thanks Tony !
Tony, can you recommend what size depending on time of year? or depending on water depth, or depending on water clarity?
Thanks
Hey Ramon,
As a general rule of thumb, baitfish will be small in the spring. This is when most of them have “hatched.” Then by the end of summer and into fall, the baitfish will be bigger since they have grown. So use smaller baits in the spring, and bigger baits later in the year. In the winter, I would use the slow sinking version because fish are more lethargic and like slower presentations.
The action on the bait looks really good….. I just might splurge and get one or two…… thanks for the info
Its definitely enticing! No problem Stuart!
