Grass-Proof Fishing Tricks You Need to Know

Floating grass can be a real nuisance when you’re using artificial lures.

Any little bit of grass on a lure can affect it’s action, and also deter a fish from striking.

In this video I’m going to show you some of the best ways to avoid catching floating grass on your line and lures.

Tony, If I get this right fishing straight braid (10 lb test) helps in grass areas using Palomar knot. I assume this lack of leader now means a greater possibility of serrations and cutting? Years ago I used to use no leader, straight mono on Needlefish lures and Mirro Lures.

Thanks Tony for all the great advice always learning something new every time glad to know about just the braid straight to the luer with the polemer not greatly appreciated

I have put a bead above the swivel on the braid then tie on about a 4 ft. Leader then the bait. This stops the grass from sliding down the line to the bait. This was primarily trolling, but it should work casting also

Well Tony that’s one of the few advantages we have here in my neck of the woods of northeast fl NO SEAGRASS or at least very very minimal I can only say for certainty in my area about 2 locations held somewhat of an amount of seagrass that once was great for fishing but unfortunatly starting in 2016 then in 2017 when both hurricanes first mathew then Emma came through all the seagrass is now gone and because it was such a small area no further replanting will take place from the Florida fish and game I know I have inquired on this subject and thats what I was told plus the fact that seagrass only grows in sand and not mud that’s why very little is in the st johns river that’s mostly mud bottom anyways it is what it is maybe in another 20 years it will come back on its own but I doubt it plus I’ll probably be to old to fish it anyway at 81 years old then we will just have to see thanks for the info anyways though and all you do🤔😉

Never expected nor thought to use a frog in saltwater. Pretty cool Tony. I have used a 9″ worm bounced on the bottom near structure for Grouper and it produced very well, but a frog…dang! Thanks Tony.
