How to Catch GIANT Redfish in Inlets & Passes (Expert Tips)

Want to consistently catch giant redfish?

Then don’t overlook inlets and passes.

In this episode, Capt. Peter Deeks breaks down his go-to strategy for catching monster redfish in areas where water flow, bait, and structure collide.

These zones are absolute hotbeds for trophy fish—and Peter shows you how to fish them effectively year-round.

  • How tide direction affects redfish feeding zones
  • When to fish mouths vs. eddies
  • The exact bait types that hold up in strong current

Recommended Gear:

Best Baits (According to Capt. Deeks):

  • Live or cut silver mullet (streamlined and hardy)
  • Pinfish
  • Threadfin herring
  • Avoid: blue crab or square-cut chunks in strong current, they’ll spin and get ignored!

Final Tip:

When fishing these deeper zones, cast with the current, not against it. Use spot lock or anchor to hold your position, and let your bait do the work.

Awesome video and tutorial. I’ve been searching for a video just like this. I have this same scenario, inlet, rocks, current, etc. where we live. Due to boat traffic, too risky for a kayak but perfect for a boat equipped with a trolling motor and spot lock. Appreciate it.
