How To Find The BEST Jetty Fishing Spots (Where & When to Fish)

Hey Salt Strong Nation,

If you’ve ever pulled up to a jetty and thought, “Where do I even start?” — you’re not alone.

The good news? Captain Sharky from Outcast Charters in Galveston, Texas, is here to break it down for you. This guy has been professionally fishing for over a decade, and when it comes to jetties, he knows exactly where to look to find feeding fish fast.

Whether you’re in Texas, Florida, or anywhere with a jetty system, these tips will help you skip the guesswork and start catching.

✅ How to use breaks in the rocks to your advantage
✅ A simple trick to scouting underwater holes and staging areas
✅ How Smart Fishing Spots helps reveal hidden underwater structure

Conclusion:

Fishing a jetty system can be overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be. With a little knowledge and the right tools, you can easily pinpoint those productive areas and stay on the fish.

Look for green, clean water. Find the moving current. Target ambush points like breaks in the rocks or isolated structure. And if you really want to level up your pre-trip game, check out Smart Fishing Spots. It shows you depth contours and hidden structure most anglers miss.

And hey, if you’re down in Texas and want to get on some big fish fast? Hit up Captain Sharky and the crew at Outcast Charters — they’ll get you dialed in.

Okay. Jetty seems pretty scary. The pass in Destin can be crazy busy and swift current! Any advice here. I don’t want to be in a bad place…boaters, rocks! I haven’t taken my boat out of the pass because wx can turn quickly and it can get very choppy!

Definitely good video and although he is talking about Texas waters and jetties, same principle applies here in Florida for our jetties, good example is that of the jetties at Mayport Florida… Very good information presented ……. !

Nice video for structure, tidal flow, and nearby depth change. Disappointing to not see more of the rigging technique used.

Thanks Captain
What knot do you use to attach the leader to your braid? SaltStrong folks usually head to the FG knot. Thanks
