Okay. Jetty seems pretty scary. The pass in Destin can be crazy busy and swift current! Any advice here. I don’t want to be in a bad place…boaters, rocks! I haven’t taken my boat out of the pass because wx can turn quickly and it can get very choppy!
Great video from Captain Sharky on Jetty fishing, thanks.
Definitely good video and although he is talking about Texas waters and jetties, same principle applies here in Florida for our jetties, good example is that of the jetties at Mayport Florida… Very good information presented ……. !
Thanks for the straight forward, concise info.
Nice video for structure, tidal flow, and nearby depth change. Disappointing to not see more of the rigging technique used.
Rigging will depend on baits/lures used. For natural baits, a standard carolina rig works well. But I’ve found that using weedless prawn usa jigs helps me weed out the smaller fish and catch the big ones while keeping from getting snagged on the rocks.
The best rig by far that I’ve found for this type of fishing is the Hoss weedless football jigheads. Here’s a link to a video that shows how to rig them: https://www.saltstrong.com/articles/how-to-rig-power-prawn-usa-lures-on-football-jigheads/
Thanks Captain
What knot do you use to attach the leader to your braid? SaltStrong folks usually head to the FG knot. Thanks
Yes, the FG knot is tough to beat given that it constantly keeps winning knot strength tests while it’s also thinner than all of the others.
I’m interested in a good rig also
