Man Vs Machine: Can AI Build A Better Gameplan?

Ever wondered if AI can put together a better fishing gameplan than an experienced angler?
On a recent trip, I mapped out a strategy for a spot I wanted to fish—and it paid off big time. I landed a ton of fish. But when I got home, I had to know… could an AI create a gameplan just as good, or even better?
I put it to the test. Watch the video to see how AI stacks up against real on-the-water experience!

Excellent post Pat. you sure made it look easy today. lots of good intel and detail.
Wow, AI is impressive
Pat, that was a great presentation in comparing the output of the app and your plan and success. We would like to see some more of these comparisons.
I plan on using it to plan a couple trips to see how it does. More to come!
Man I’m soooo jealous !!! I could do that ALL DAY / EVERY DAY 🤜🤛.
Cant wait to try that AI on the smart spots.
I KNOW ITS GONNA BE GOOD.
Thanks Pat 🤜🤛
It never gets old!
Pat as always, you are very informative to the point and on target, this video is very informative. The new AI technology is great , it can help the season veteran, and the newbie as well get more tight lines this year. I think you have the dream job, keep up the great work. Thanks
Thanks Jim! And yes, I do have the dream job!
Thanks for the info and teaching me how you are using the tweaker. I will definitely be trying this out next time I’m in the water. Tight Lines!!! 🎣🎣🎣
That Tweaker is such a versatile lure with a ton of ways to work it. You can work it fast or slow, in the dead of winter or the heat of summer. It’s a good one to have
Gives me more confidence in it I haven’t tried it yet but it seems like a good tool for us thanks Pat that’s always we catch you on the next trip
I think it be really good for people that are newer to intermediate anglers or someone that is going to a new body of water. It should keep getting better with the updates.
I’ve always wondered what to do with the slime on my hands! Cool “why didn’t I think of that” tip lol.
When you do use Da Juice, how often do you reapply?
Someone taught me that a long time ago. Not sure if it works but I don’t think it hurts.
I don’t reapply often. The goal is to catch enough fish I have to swap the lure out because it was ruined before the juice wears off! But honestly, maybe once an hour at most.
Joe responded to a Community question asking why the smart spots don’t change location although the color code may change. His response was that they don’t change much although suggesting seasonal change. Other Insiders have previously posted saying they don’t see location change even when going from fall to winter.
With that background, do the AI audio narrative by Luke change daily consistent with weather and tide cycle changes? It seemed to me that these comments were generalizations although the specific time of day was interesting. The reference to 7pm in the winter months is night time which makes me think this same audio messaging was made for daylight hours. An instructional video getting detailed about how this AI works would be helpful. It’s possible it exists but didn’t see it.
The AI doesn’t provide real time on the water intel, and that puts it at a disadvantage to those who are observant and know to respond to that intel. For pre-planning, I think AI may have an advantage as it may be able to aggregate, analyze, and diagnose data better than most humans. The bigger the data sets, the better artificial intelligence does.
This first version of the AI gameplan only calculates the current conditions, moving the slider to different times and days doesn’t change things. . Nick did mention that they are working on the next update to have the ability to build a plan for future time and dates.
You’re right about the data aggregate, I think this feature will be useful to people that are still somewhat new to fishing and doesn’t posses the skills yet to build a gameplan. If you’re on top of the trends and know your waters, this might be more of a back up plan if what you’re doing isn’t working.
Nick and the team are already working on updates such as the program “reading” the spot better so little messages such as, look for docks will not come up if there’s none around. That will save some confusion.
I still feel the on the water observations will trump anything that a computer can do. There’s just things you can’t predict when you’re dealing with wild animals.
Nice report. Need to develop an eye to spot those fish ripples instead of passing them by unnoticed. Saw the equipment used to catch the fish but I liked the looks of your landing net. Where did you find it?
The on the water observations is key for when things are not going your way. Being able to read the situation and make changes can turn a bad day into a great one.
