How I Found Redfish & Flounder on Water I’d Never Fished Before

Fishing unfamiliar water can be intimidating, especially during the heat of summer when fish often seem to disappear once the sun is up.
On this recent trip, I decided to put the Smart Fishing Spots app to the ultimate test by letting it guide me through a dangerous area I’d never fished before.
The results? A beautiful flounder, multiple redfish, and some valuable lessons about where summer fish position themselves and which lures consistently get bites.
In the video below, I’ll walk you through the process I used to avoid danger zones, explain why I chose each spot, and break down the techniques that produced fish.

Location
This trip was filmed from the Mason Creek boat ramp, which is in Homosassa, FL. The waters here are known for having lots of shallow rocks, which have claimed a lot of lower units and props.
Final Thoughts
The power of the Smart Fishing Spots system has significantly increased our ability to find fish easier than ever before.
I now rely on it to pinpoint exactly where I am, often even more than the far more expensive GPS unit on my boat.
And for paddle fishing like this trip, the phone was by far my most valuable accessory, given that I was able to plot the helpful track that helped me avoid rocks while it also helped find good spots to fish.

Well you know my answer for finding summer fishing its easy NIGHT FISHING and it ALWAYS works for me and lately that is up until my last trip on the 29th when my outboard wouldn’t start I was catching alot of both reds and flounder have been eating real good lately because unlike you daytime heat loving anglers I keep my limit because I love fresh fish and believe in having something to show for my efforts instead of just pictures and stories to tell so as soon as my 13 going on 14 year old girl is ready to go hopefully in the next 2 weeks because obviously its in the peak boating and fishing season where mechanics never get it done in a rush I’ll be haunting the fish again thanks for the info and all you do
