What size hook-3/0 or , 4/0 for 4″ or for 5″ paddletails? What about long shank jighead hooks for the 4 or 5″ paddletails?
Hey Brian! I prefer a 3/0 for the 3.5″ to 4″ paddletails. a 4/0 will work for the 5 inch paddletails (a 5/0 will work as well). Same with jigheads as far as the hook size. As long as the hook shank isn’t so long that it interferes with the tail of the lure.
Thanks! Makes sense.
You’re welcome Robert!
Great info, thanks Tony!
You’re welcome John!
Tony that was as great reminder that although the weight may be the same, the same weights are not equal.
For sure!
thanks Tony, this will help with my weight selection.
You’re welcome Gary!
Thanks Tony!
My pleasure!
thanks
You’re welcome!
Do you recommend different size hooks for the different size paddle tails?
Absolutely! 3.5 inch paddle tails I use a 3/0. 4 inch you can use a 3/0 or 4/0. 5 inch you’ll want to use a 4/0 or 5/0.
Bigger lure = more plastic, which means they need more hook gap to get a good hookset.
Great video and information
Thanks Eduardo!
Great info. I was wondering about that. Very great Video.
Thank you for the great feedback Randy!
