Here are some of the pros and cons of this reel.
Pros:
- Lightweight

- Saltwater resistant

Cons:
- The noise clicker is not very durable
- Price is on the higher end ($189.99)
And here are some of the specs for this reel:
- Gear ratio: 6:1
- Bearings: 11+1
- Max drag: 30 lbs
- Braided line capacity: 220/20
- Weight (Model SSM30XPT): 8.3 oz

Conclusion
This is a great reel for inshore fishing, as long as you don’t mind the higher price point and know that the noise clicker might not last that long.
It’s very light and durable (minus the clicker), so it’s perfect for tossing artificials all day on the water.

Thanks for the review! How does the S3 in 3000 compare to Daiwas in 3000 size-wise / spool diameter?
Deciding between the S3 and Tierra.
I guess a more accurate comparison would be 2500 vs 2500 as some Daiwas use size-down body.
I bought two of these thinking they may be a less expensive and worthy alternative to the Shimano Ci4 but was very disappointed with them both. They were not nearly as smooth as the Ci4 and the drags quickly became sticky. I had two friends try them as well and both were also disappointed in the performance.
Shimano makes the best gearing in our industry, no doubt! I think most have valid points on pros and cons on the CI4+. The industry hasn’t made a bulletproof reel yet. If you had the data that we compile it might shock you on the most repaired reels. Here is my opinion… Shimano makes the best gearing, Daiwa the best bearing concealment system, Quantum the best bail, drag, and warranty. Food for thought
Excellent review. Didn’t know much about Quantum products (use mostly Shimano) but am more favorable about them now.
Thank you!
