I Compared Realistic and Plain Lures Underwater

Ever wondered how realistic lure colors look underwater compared to plain colors?

I filmed our Flea Flicker lure underwater in the new pilchard and mullet HD colors and compared it to our original Slam Shady color to see how it looks from the perspective of a fish.

There are some key takeaways as far as how each color stands out and how to apply that while you are on the water.

Enjoy!

I’m new to the Salt Strong lures, but color does make a huge difference when I’m using the old fashioned Needle Fish lures with treble hooks on them. Sometimes trout and snook hit them all, but often they are fixated on the green ones or blue ones here along the Space Coast.

I live in Michigan and vacation in Florida. I have been surf fishing for the last 3yrs when I go to Florida. I became a member of salt strong to help my skills for surf fishing and salt water fishing in general. Also noticed that a lot of the tackle here looks like it would be useful for fishing areas around my home in Michigan. Especially for bass fishing. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

I like the Flea Flicker. The color I use will probably depend on water conditions. In Texas we are in murky bay water most of the time. But the FF has a great size and weight for casting and the fact that it sinks tail down is great. I have a feeling trout are going to grab it on the drop.

Yea I now have ALL the flea flicker colors about 2 weeks ago you guys finally got in a shipment of the pilchard and mullet hd colors and I was alerted when they came in so I bought 2 of each I always buy any lures in pairs because I like to have an extra for backup great action and am very interested in seeing how well they will work in winter here in northeast fl when the water conditions finally clear and will be alot like the water where your fishing in Ole skeeter lagoon also I might add that in the summer when the water here in northeast fl is mostly murky your tests would probably be a whole lot different if you did your test here obviously clear vs murky water is like night to day and the colors and profiles would be totally different but obviously no matter the water clarity most baitfish don’t change there color and fish eat them no matter what the water conditions are so no matter they all work no matter what the water clarity is but it’s still interesting to see which looks and performs better thanks for the info and all you do😉👍

This is a good lesson on how color really isn’t that important! They all looked good.
