Hey everyone, Pat here from Salt Strong!
If you’re struggling with short casts, missed targets, or just not reaching the fish, your rod and lure might be mismatched—and that’s a problem.

In this video, I break down how lure weight and rod power work together to improve your casting distance and accuracy. Plus, I’ll show you a big mistake most anglers make (and how to fix it fast).

Thanks for the sweet spot of the fishing rods! I did not know about the sweet spot, so this video was extremely informative! Thanks Pat.
Looking forward to the next video on the total combination of rod,Roland line
Thanks Pat!
Thanks Pat! This is some really good information. I saw some info that I had forgotten about.
Good presentation…Thank You
Man, I’ve been practicing casting for a year plus now yet I’d say I still 60% of the time rainbow but sidearm tend to be better. Since I’m trying to stick with 2.0 on 3/16th helix (which I guess would be close to 1/4) I finally decided to get a ML TFO but I still get the same issue as with the M TFO. Are 3/16th just that hard to throw or do I need to reevaluate my technique?
Great video about the rod and lure weight relationship when it comes to casting accuracy.
Great explanation on the details for matching lure weight with rod specifications. Thank you Pat. Maybe on the next video talk a little bit about a rod to pair with a popping cork setup.
Great stuff Pat!!! 🙂
Thanks Chris! Appreciate it!
Great video Pat. I have always used a lure in the zone listed on the rod but never thought about the sweet spot being in the middle. It does make sense though as when i am throwing a ned rig i throw it on a rod with a low end rating of 1/8 oz.
It does make a difference. I have three different rods I use for topwater depending on the size of the lure. The middle weight rod can handle the smaller and larger lure but can’t do it as well as the rods made for it.
