Travel rods are a great alternative when you are limited on space and/or traveling, and it’s nice to have a rod you can keep in the vehicle for last minute fishing adventures!
Common issues people face with rods that come apart are the rod pieces getting stuck, coming off easily, and/or getting damaged.
I’ll be going over some helpful tips that can alleviate these common issues

Instead of trying to pick one rod and hoping it’s the right choice for wherever you’re fishing… this setup gives you FOUR fully customizable rod builds in one compact case.
Here’s what you get:
-
A shared base and two interchangeable midsections: Medium-Light and Medium
-
Two tip options: Fast and Moderate Fast action
-
A sleek, rugged case with individual padded sleeves
Want to throw light lures to spooky reds in skinny water? Go medium-light with a fast tip.
Need to bomb a popping cork for trout in the wind? Swap in the medium and you’re good to go.
Best of all, the entire setup fits in a small, airplane-ready case that won’t get wrecked in transit.
We’ve got Insiders using this thing before work, on cross-country flights, and even stashing it in their trunks just in case the bite turns on during lunch.
Bottom line:
This isn’t just a “travel rod.”
It’s a serious performer that happens to fit in a tiny case.
It casts a mile. It’s sensitive. It’s durable.
And most importantly—it makes sure you’re always ready to fish.

Have six plus hours in on all four of the configurations of the Traveler. While is not the Weapon Jr. or the Slot Machine it’s a very ‘Sweet’ set up. Nice tips on a bit of basic maintenance.
Definitely a nice setup to have! It stays in my truck for those last minute adventures
Good info.
Thanks Donn!
Someone will no doubt tell me I’m crazy, but my grandpa used to tell me to just rub the insert against either my nose or forehead. I’ve always done that and never had a problem. One less piece of gear to drag along and most of the time I do have my head with me. Not always!!!
Haha I don’t doubt it! A little oil from the head or nose could do the trick.
Great video, it is possible to have one video about the 4 possible assemblies of this travel rod, and when to use each one?
Hey Petro! We can definitely get something together on that specific topic.
Awesome video and presentation of the maintenance of the travel rod … I have received mine and knew about all of this already but I am glad that you put this presentation together for all others and knowing it will be very helpful to those who didn’t know all of this …. The hardest problem I’ve had was locating the true 100% bees wax candles for the rod joints.. Not to many stores carry that item …. Found mine in Gainesville, Florida at Whole Foods… ! Once again thanks and Job well done Tony …. !
Thank you for the great feedback Thomas! Amazon sells all kinds online.
Great advice, thanks
You’re welcome Derryk!
thanks
You’re welcome Ronald!
Tony great advice on the bees wax for the rod ferrels! Florida gets hot and the rods expand especially when surf fishing. This tip will help me get them apart much quicker.
