Why This NEW Baitcaster Might Be Your Next Favorite Reel

When it comes to saltwater fishing gear, few things get me more excited than finding a reel that can handle the abuse we throw at it out on the water. If you’re tired of reels that corrode, jam, or just don’t hold up against big fish, I’ve got something for you.

The new Coastal SV TW from Daiwa is here, and I’ve had the chance to test its previous version on some serious saltwater action. From battling 15lb permit in heavy current to landing countless redfish, snook, and trout, this reel has already proven its toughness. And now? The upgraded version is supposed to be even better.

In my latest video, I break down my first impressions of the new Coastal SV TW. I’ll show you what makes it stand out and why I’m already planning to add it to my arsenal.

Got questions about the new Coastal SV TW or want me to cover something specific in the full review? Drop a comment below!

And if you’re ready to get your hands on this reel, don’t wait too long. We’ve got limited stock in the Fish Strong store, so act fast! Click here to get yours!

Tight lines,

I have the inshore coastal which i like but if you like using baitcasting for inshore fishing, you have to try the 13 fishing reels. I had an inception which i used for years before it finally broke down. I also have a concept a which is great and still working great and recently purchased the concept TX 2 which i haven’t used it but looking forward to. The 13 fishing reels i believe are smoother and cast farther than the coastal. Just one man’s opinion.

I will tell you fishing guys and gals out there: THE BAITCASTER VERSION CASTS A COUNTRY MILE.!!! I have the “upgraded” (read that as more expensive by $30) version of the Coastal SV TW, and it is as advertised. I can cast the same rig at least 5, maybe 10, yards farther than with my favorite Lew’s reel. And I can cast that one a good ways. Smooth and very nice in the hand. I can highly recommend this for casting distance. No idea about longevity yet, but can’t imagine that will be a problem if you take care of your equipment like you should. Get one for yourself and see what I mean.

What rod would you pair it with?

If you’re primarily using live bait then a medium heavy/fast action 7’6″ rod is great, If lures only with occasional live bait then medium/moderate fast action better. I have used 12lb Trilene Big Game mono with a 30lb mono leader for years with great results. Haven’t tried braid because I have seen no reason to change what works. For spinning reels Trilene 10 or 12 lb XL mono works well.

Also, I have switched to the Slot Machine spinning rod recently and can attest that this is a superb rod. Very light weight. Wish they made one with medium heavy/fast action to use with live croakers etc to haul in the big reds.

Are you no longer spooling the reels with line? Didn’t see an option to choose a line for this reel.
