I think these changes will be good.I’m glad I decided to go life member within my first year of membership.The pricing is not out of line. I’m paying 34.99 a month for my Flatsclass University membership to supplement my learning.

@Joe Simonds
Love the “ON BOARDING” idea Joe. Makes complete sense to me. Pricing is spot on IMHO as well. The tiers are good. Nicely thought thru.
Question please – is there a higher tier than lifetime member that needs to be reached before the price increase ?

Joe, you and Luke and Tony taught me how to catch fish when all I had was the 3 of you and an occasional report (and the poker table ha ha!) . I learned the basics and put fish in the boat. My goodness there is so much more now! Our club will be stronger with these new changes and I’m glad you’re moving forward with it. I will be moving to the Big Bend in just a few weeks so you will see more of me in the community soon!

One suggestion….I would like to see a return to each of the coaches doing an insider report each week. They have become rather sporadic and often do not have much as content about the pre/post planning process. I got a lot of useful tips from those in the past and often found myself asking, “What would Luke do in this situation?” On the water footage is OK, but the more interesting things are in the “why”, not the actual action.

Exciting stuff! Any thought about offering current insiders the option of opting into the onboarding, then upon completion, returning back to our previous account status? Or, maybe providing access to an outline of the onboarding steps, so we can check it out? As a fairly new member, I think it may be beneficial and informative.

How about selecting some ‘seasoned’ insiders be volunteer on boarding coaches? I would love to be able to give back to the family for all that’s been given to me.

What is the difference between an insider and a VIP member?

Thanks for sharing these important changes, Joe! Your recognition of rapid growth and how it’s changed the culture of the Community is impressive to me. While Insiders want to be helpful, it’s stunningly obvious that the onboard preparation of newbies was not happening. It was teaching to be lazy and no need to study the materials when the most basic questions are asked repeatedly. A part of this problem relates to poor organization of the website. When the questions are answered, the shelf life is about a day before a bunch of other postings force down the Q&A to never to be found again. A simple frequently asked Q&A board might provide some relief to the newbies and responders. And if you hit that 200,000 member goal by YE 2025, it’s good you’re now taking steps to address the impact of such rapid growth on Insiders as doing nothing will seriously erode the value of certain membership features. When finally sorted out, It would be helpful to solidify in writing all of the various new pricing components as hearing it is not the best way for avoiding confusion.

Concerning feedback. After first announcing the substantial price increases, and then getting all sorts of feedback which eventually led to hiring an outside consultant, think about assembling a small group of Insiders to provide their insights before finalizing significant changes. The problem with solely relying on an inside management team is that it’s a small universe and may be swayed by what they think the top person wants to hear and they won’t have the same perspective as the client/consumer. Think about all of the time and expense associated with the ever changing format and features of SFS. Change shouldn’t by static but it can be managed so the cost impact on the company and users are optimized. Continued good luck and wishing you and Luke the best in your fishing and business journeys.
