But here’s the truth: if a fish sees a smelly dead shrimp laying on the bottom looking like an easy meal, they’re probably not going to pass it up.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- Shrimp (live, fresh dead, or frozen)
- 1/0 Eagle Claw Plain Shank Hook
- 10# Ande Mono Leader
- Split Shot Weight
Here’s how to rig the shrimp:
- From the tail end, thread the shrimp up over the shank of the hook.
- Try to keep as much of the hook covered.
- When you get as far as you can go up, twist the hook point out of the side of the shrimp.
Your split shot weight will keep the shrimp on the bottom waiting for a fish to snatch it up!
This is also a great technique for days when the weather is not so great but you still want to get on some fish.
Conclusion
Fishing dead shrimp in the shallows can be really effective.
And if you want to maximize your chances of getting a bite, rig them this way so that the hook is barely visible, but the exposed hook point is there to get a good hook set.

Wow. Isn’t this the same as being sponsored. In so many videos I hear how that Salt Strong is not sponsored and do not get endorsements for the products that they highlight. Am I missing something because this turns me away.

Hey Steve, there is a very big different between sponsorship revenue (example – paid by a lure company to promote their lures) and an affiliate commission with a big mass retailer in which we get a very small percentage of the sales from people who we refer to their websites to make a purchase.
The sponsorship arrangements make the receiving entity’s loyalty to be towards the sponsor in hopes of getting more money by continually raving about how amazing the company’s products are.
The affiliate commission arrangements to do not involve the specific products that are being sold, so we have no financial reason to promote one product over another… it’s just a small percentage of whatever people who click from our site to their end up purchasing from them. This enables us to recoup some of the costs of all the tackle we purchase to test out. And we are not bound to any equipment manufacturer at all so our loyalty stays 100% focused to our members/subscribers.

In my opinion they are the same but different.
One you are locked into a product or brand, have strict guide lines to follow, usually get money upfront, and then more over time if you follow their rules. Some times you are all in for the money regardless of your honest opinion or usage of the product.This is why, as Salt Strong has mentioned, that you should not always believe that pro fisherman, etc. that you follow. In this case I would lose all faith in Salt Strong and would have immediately asked for a refund of my membership.
The other gives you the freedom to endorse or recommend a product that you have faith in by linking that product to your affiliate’s web site hoping that the community will follow the link and not only buy that product, but hope even more that they will load their cart to the gills so that you might earn your commission. A much more honest approach that can benefit yourselves as well as your community.
My biggest concern is that links will begin to be provided more in a way to gain revenue than to help the community. When I go to the your store or see a link to a product I want to believe that these products are offered or recommended because they are tried, true and actually used regularly by the folks at Salt Strong.
I thank you for your response Luke and do believe that Salt Strong is doing wonderful things. I viewed many of the you tube videos prior to joining and didn’t understand why anyone would pay 100.00 to join this group when I can get information everywhere for free. I would have never paid to join for information or a discount. I paid because I researched the entire site and was thoroughly impressed with everything Salt Strong stood for. So, I paid because I believed in Salt Strong andwanted to help regardless of whether I ever learned a thing or bought a thing.
I apologize for drawing this out. The disclaimer just gave me a bit of a shock at first and caused some concern. I know that you have to pay bills, but just don’t want to see a good thing go bad for the lust of the mighty dollar. For now I will have faith that Salt Strong will remain honest and true.

I hv fished shrimp w no success,, except Tony way of take tail off and using a jig head through tail up through back.. this was informative and simple out the side. When I tell you Hollywood I want to fish with you to learn and pick your brain. Called down to get on your charter but couldn’t get a date, wanted to give me another captain. Let me know when accepting new charters?
