Equipment Used:

The Skinny Lipper is a 4-inch hard-body jerk bait lure that also behaves like a topwater lure when worked a certain way.

It typically runs about 6-12 inches below the surface so it is a floating lure that covers the upper water column.

Especially if the topwater bite slows down, this lure excels in the shallows.

And if you’re tired of losing lures to pufferfish or pinfish, you won’t run into that issue with the Skinny Lipper!

On this particular day, I made a last-minute post inviting Insider Members that could make it to do some fishing.

We hit the water at about 6:30 am and I immediately started to see signs of life.

Topwater would be a good start but I chose to lead off with the Skinny Lipper because of the cooler temperatures on this morning.

I tossed it out at a school of redfish and instantly hooked into a solid redfish to start the day.

I went and followed the school to throw another cast.

A few cranks in and I was hooked up again!

I was working the lure similarly to a topwater retrieve so it stayed subsurface but darted back and forth.

As you catch redfish from a school, it is always a smart idea to keep an eye on the school.

You can continue to follow it and pluck off fish.

The Skinny Lipper crushed it and performed well on my first trip out with it.

But if I wasn’t in an area with actively feeding fish, I probably would’ve smelled the skunk.

Be sure to check out the Insider Club if you already aren’t a member and we’ll give you all the tools you need to confidently hit the water and find the feeding fish in no time.

You definitely found the fish and established some confidence in the new lure. Still waiting on mine to be delivered. Looked like all the fish you caught were on the front hook. You hook any on the back hook? Any misses?
