Deep Water Jigging

The Power Prawn excels better than any other lure out there when using it on deep rock walls, jetties, channels, bridges, and even offshore!

You’ll just need a heavier jig head to get down to the deeper water depths.

Use a 1/2 oz jig head or heavier depending on the water depth you are fishing.

The best retrieve in these deep water scenarios is one or two hard pops and then let the lure fall back to the bottom.

Shallow Water Grass Flats

Another great way to use the Power Prawn is to pop it through grass flats.

Use a weighted weedless hook, like a Texas Eye Jig Head.

And do slow short pops throughout the grass.

Here are the weights I use for different shallow water depths:

  • 1/16 oz for less than 1ft of water
  • 1/8 oz for 2 ft of water
  • 3/16 oz for 3ft to 4ft of water

Under A Popping Cork

Using the Power Prawn under a popping cork is so much fun!

If you’re fishing the edges of channels it can stir up a bite with the loud noise of the cork.

The cork emulates the sound of a shrimp popping up on the surface.

But make sure you use a heavy jig head because the lure material is super buoyant.

Good video Wyatt. I need to use the PP more often. I don’t give enough game time! 😉

Thanks Wyatt. Can you do a pool video to compare the sink rate of the PP to other shrimp lures, like Z-Man and DOA? Tony did a comparison with Z-Man and Gulp jerk baits in a pool, and I found it really helpful to see the different sink rates with the same weight.

What size of jig heads were you using when the red snapper was caught? 1/2 oz? Nice breakdown
