Top Pros And Cons Of The SMASH CRAB JNR
In this section, I go over the top pros and cons of the Chasebaits SMASH CRAB JNR.
Pros Of The SMASH CRAB JNR
The top pros of the SMASH CRAB JNR are the following:
1. Great Action
This lure has fantastic action. The legs and claws of the crab vibrate and wiggle in the water as it sinks and when it’s being retrieved. Fishing this lure in good moving current naturally will give it great action as well.
2. Very Durable
These are tough, strong and durable lures that hold up well against fish. They stretch and are designed to take a beating without breaking down. You can catch multiple fish with just one lure.
3. Sinks Slowly
Although this lure is relatively heavy for its size, it slow sinks nicely and allows you to effectively present it to fish.
Cons Of The SMASH CRAB JNR
Here are the cons of the SMASH CRAB JNR:
1. Makes A Big Splash
This lure makes a pretty big splash when you cast it out, which can spook fish if you cast too close to them.
2. Odd To Cast
The lure is kind of clunky to cast because of its shape. You have to cast it out like it’s live bait for it to be an effective cast.

Conclusion
This is a good lure for targeting fish that eat crabs – such as redfish, black drum and even tarpon.
The action of the lure is really unique and it is a strong and durable product.
It is a little odd to cast but once you figure it out, it should not be a problem.

Do they work on black fish?
Just bought one. I’m going fishing tomorrow and I can’t wait to try it.
I wonder if it would work with permit?
Have you tried this lure for blackfish or black sea bass ?
I haven’t, but if their diet consists of crab, I don’t see them turning one of these down.
can you add scent or smell?
Yep I usually add some blue crab or shedder crab pro cure gel to the body of the lure. I like the procure because it’s a sticky gel and stays on the lure for a while.
Tony, you show how durable when stretched, but do you have any experience with fish biting through it? Worried about Pinfish and Puffers taking those legs off.
Thanks,
Jim
Puffers will bite through anything, but pinfish won’t damage it. If you add scent to it you are more likely to have the puffers nip at it.
Love the action this crab has and will be ordering some soon!
Thanks Tony
No problem Daryl!
Really looks excellent ! Can’t wait to try it ????
Tony, very good and informative review of the product. I really like the swimming pool video. I have one question: have you tried it fishing and did you catch any fish with it???
Thanks Alan!
I have been using the Chasebaits Flick Prawn and have been catching a lot of fish on that. I’ll be honest I haven’t caught a fish with the crab yet, but that’s mainly because I haven’t tried much yet. I get caught up using my confidence lures, and it can be tough to switch to something new. I’ll be sure to get footage when I start using it more and add it to this post! Similar to what I did with the Shrimp I did a review on made by this company.
Great review Tony! Concise, hit all the important points of pros and cons for fishermen. Seeing it on video in the pool is extremely helpful. Thanks for all you and the Salt Strong team do for anglers. You guys are awesome!
Thank you for the awesome feedback Toby!
