The goal was to try some new areas to see if we could pick up on a hot trout bite.
We didn’t see a lot in the morning and spent most of the time bouncing between spots looking for signs of life.
After trying a bunch of different lures and presentations, we found that the Corky and MirrOlure Lil Jon sparked the most action.
We realized we had to slow things down on all of our lure offerings.
I was adamantly throwing the Corky until EVERYONE started hooking up with the Lil Jon lure.
This turned out to be the ticket as it reached the low portions of the water column where these fish were feeding.
Erratic pops and long pauses got the job done.

Sorry, I’ve had this on my mind. I don’t know where to turn for a straight answer. Has the mystery of all the missing sea grass in the Mosquito Lagoon been solved? I still think the spraying of herbicides caused the damage. It’s logical, after looking into all possibilities.
Could SaltStrong do a follow-up to the event to help clarify things about it and possibly the cause of the red tide massacre of 2018? It’s another ecological disaster dodged by the government. I’m not the only fisherman seeking the truth and have ongoing concerns about Florida’s watershed.
That looked like a fun trip!
It was interesting and informative but for me the best thing that I heard was a casual comment and it was a fact that I had never heard before but I’ll remember for ever. “ there are lice on the fish that means they’re hanging out on the bottom.” my grandchildren and watch the smiles on their faces.
Pink bellies and lice means they were hanging right on the bottom. It does sound funny though!
