Salt Strong Sweeps The Podium On Tournament Day After Delayed Start

With only 3 hours to secure first place after a delayed start, I had my work cut out for me.

But that also meant we got an extra hour to fish later in the afternoon.

Either way, it wouldn’t be an easy task.

Watch the video below to see how I made it happen on tournament day to achieve victory!

We had to deal with a fog delay before the tournament could get underway.

But once we got out on the water, it was all about the trends.

I hooked into a solid redfish to get the skunk off and put me on the board.

It got tougher from there.

Water levels were falling and I kept losing fish.

A little while later, I used Smart Fishing Spots to locate some rocks near a flat and buzzed the Wake Bait over them.

It didn’t take long to hook into a solid fish!

As I got it closer to the boat I knew it was a redfish but I was worried it was over-slot.

But once I got it measured and pinched the tail it came in RIGHT under slot.

You could say it was the perfect tournament redfish.

Later on we made a move to a different spot loaded with oyster bars and rocks as the tide moved.

I dropped two fish that could have brought me to 50 total inches but that’s why we carry 8 rods in the back!

I hooked into the fish I needed to get to 50 inches.

So I made my way back to the boat ramp to get phone signal and enter in the catch.

It was not until later on at the announcement that I found out I took home FIRST PLACE!

Not only that, the TOP 3 was all SALT STRONG with two other members taking home second and third place.

Salt Strong once again stood atop the podium!

The key to success on this trip was finding rocks and oyster bars.

Smart Fishing Spots made it incredibly easy to find exactly what we were looking for in high-quality zones to find top-tier fish.

Hard structure points will retain heat and provide shelter that attracts bait.

Predatory fish will come looking for the bait.

Finding the bait was ultimately the most important thing.

Rocks and oysters held the bait which was where the feeding fish were.
