Get the Polk County Tweaker Lure
This video is from one of the first trips Joe and I fished with the PC Tweaker.
Since then, it has absolutely crushed all sorts of inshore fish from redfish, to snook, to seatrout, and more!
On this trip, we were in Tampa Bay targeting super spooky redfish.
I went light with 10lb braid and leader with a 20lb bite tippet.
This is one of the best times of the year to hit the water for BIG reds and trout.
A lure that erratically darts all around like the Tweaker drives these fish crazy.
It didn’t take long for Joe and I to DOUBLE UP!!!
During the cooler months, these bigger redfish move offshore.
Now, they’re on the flats aggressively hunting down bait.
An erratic, darting lure like the PC Tweaker is a sure-fire way to trigger strikes this spring!
The Polk County Tweaker was designed to substitute the split-tail jerk shads.
It casts farther and it skips better underneath docks and mangroves.
This is a MUST-HAVE lure for speckled seatrout, redfish, snook, and even flounder!

That’s some studs, especially on the light tackle. Gotta work the drag a little and wait until they are tired. Congrats guys.
Love that action. My area in the Carolinas is primarily oyster beds. How would you rig that for oyster beds? Stouter leader for sure, right?
Depends on how deep the oysters are… but the core premise is to rig it just light enough to get close to the bottom without toughing it very often… so I mostly use 1/16 oz weighted hooks given that I most often target oysters in shallow water (under 2 ft).
As for leader line, I don’t bother going thicker because the line rarely gets damaged if the lure is rigged to not be bouncing/dragging along the bottom.
Like to see you fish in the Fort Myers Area for a change
That’s a fun area to fish. I’ll make sure to get down there again as soon as I can.
Fishing from my kayak, I’ve had some problem with line tangling on my rod tip while using the jerk shads, etc. The motion of the rod tip is horizontal, very close to the surface, and I may be retrieving too fast. What can I change in my retrieve to stop “fouling” the rod tip?
Great video, thanks.
Seems as if you may be twitching it back and then pointing the rod forward too quickly which is allowing the line to get behind the rod… after a twitch, just hold it in place for a second or two before pointing the rod back towards the lure, and it’ll be impossible for the line to get wrapped if it stays in front of the rod.
EXCELLENT!!!!! I think that was brothers catching sisters!!!!
Haha!!!
Real men wear pink!
That was one of our original batches of Redfish Camo shirts, and it sure came out looking pink vs. the orange that we were hoping for:)
I just got my Tweakers yesterday so I will be trying them this weekend! Can’t wait after watching this video.
So glad to see that you’ll be giving them a try… I caught some nice reds with them again this morning (it’s quickly becoming my new favorite lure for redfish and big trout up on shallow grass flats).
Awesome catches fellows!
Thanks Amos!
Way to go BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Richard!
Nice!!! Looks like you caught those reds pretty far from shoreline. Was it low tide? Grass flats? Thanks
Yes, this was on a grass flat. It was mid-tide at that point, so they were holding away from the mangroves… this lure is now my favorite for that situation where the fish are spread out on a shallow grass flat due to it being able to cover water quickly without spooking the fish.
Thanks- agree it’s a great lure. I did some testing in the pool with little John vs Tweaker. I have to say the tweaker action is better.
