Meet the Skinny Lipper XL, the bigger and bolder version of the famous Skinny Lipper topwater diving plug.
It’s built to handle gnarly conditions when the fish are fired up, but the wind and water are rough.
If you’re tired of your lure getting knocked down by the wind or disappearing in murky water, this is our farthest-casting lure, designed to cut through the elements and stay visible when it matters most.

Why Go XL?
When conditions get tougher, the Skinny Lipper XL gives you the edge:
- Cuts through wind and chop with a heavier weight and larger profile.
- Targets Bigger Fish helping you weed out the smaller fish and dial in on the real bruisers when predators are looking for a full meal.
- Built-in rattle helps fish find it fast, especially in stained or murky water.
If you’re fishing where the bait is big or the water is churned up, this is the lure to tie on.
Inline Hooks = Fewer Headaches
Treble hooks can be a hassle—not just for you, but for the fish. That’s why the Skinny Lipper XL comes rigged with premium inline hooks.
- Less grass, fewer snags – Inline hooks stay cleaner, and a quick rod pop knocks off any debris.
- Better for you and the fish – No more wrestling with treble hooks when it’s time to release your catch.
When & Where to Use It
This lure shines in conditions where fish are aggressive and visibility is low.
- Spring and summer mornings and evenings – Fish are fired up and hunting bigger bait.
- Fall feeding frenzy – Predators are looking for a meal before winter, and the XL size makes it an easy target.
- Murky or rough water – The rattle and larger profile help fish locate it fast.
How to Work It
The Skinny Lipper XL is incredibly versatile, making it easy to adjust to the bite.
- Steady retrieve keeps it cruising just below the surface (about 1.5 feet down).
- Pause and float keeps it out of the grass—it naturally rises when you stop retrieving.
- Mix it up with a twitch-twitch-pause or a stop-and-go to trigger reaction strikes.
Pick Your Color
We’ve got two proven colors to match the conditions:
- Slam Shady – Natural pale hue with red slash marks to mimic an injured baitfish.
- Mullet HD – A super-realistic mullet pattern for when fish are keyed in on the real thing.

Awesome video and thanks for sharing this information… Job well done Tony
Sweet, this will be nice to add to my collection for sure.
Absolutely!
Thanks Tony , look forward to giving it a workout!!
You’re welcome Nelson!
Hooks rust and get dull quick
Unfortunately all hooks will rust on lures in saltwater. Manufacturers aren’t allowed to use stainless hooks, but you could put them on after purchasing if desired. I always rinse whatever lures I use with freshwater at the end of a trip and don’t have any rust issues.
My only issue so far has been with the hooks. They seem to rust fairly quickly

Being the contestant that named the first Skinny Lipper , I would like to suggest a name change for the new XL model to the Big Lipper
Name is already set, but that’s a good one as well!
This has to be my personal favorite, now I can change more than the color. Nice
For sure!
Can’t wait to try it out in my canal, maybe even at night
Something in there should slam it!
I look forward to using these lures.
They’re working great right now and can only get better as it warms up more
