Money…
Big house…
Expensive cars and big boats…
Endless toys…
Instagram followers…
If you spend any amount of time on social media, YouTube, or listening to today’s most popular music, you might believe that these 5 things are the most important in life…
Yet, when people reflect on life from their death bed, not one of these things is mentioned as being important (even for celebrities).
How SAD that most of us (including yours truly) spend a big portion of our lives chasing the wrong things…
Can you guess the 5 REAL most important things in life?
Give it a shot and then listen to this short podcast below to see if you got all five.
Let me know how you did in the comments.

Well Joe, I respectfully disagree with your 5 most important things and for good reason. Please hear me out and then consider…First and foremost, I can live without my family, friends, love, purpose & even my health…but, I cannot live without my heavenly father who loved us when we were not even thinking about Him. So, I firmly believe the #1 most important thing in anyone’s life should be God and if it is not, I am firmly convinced and convicted you are heading down a path to destruction…Consider this:
Matthew 10:36-38
New International Version
36
a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
We should strive to live according to His teachings such as…
Matthew 6:33
New International Version
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Yes, it is my firm belief if God isn’t your number one priority in your life you very well may wander from His graces and His truths.
Friends and family are way over rated…
Proverbs 18:24
New International Version
24
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
I just cannot see putting my family or friends before THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY as you are prescribing to others.
Even Love comes from God….A person cannot truly love without God. I have experienced the love of family and friends that failed me and more often that I care to admit but, God’s love has NEVER failed me. Consider this…
1 John 4:7-12
New International Version
God’s Love and Ours7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Also, our purpose in life comes from God…It should start with this…
Luke 10:27
New International Version
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Therein is your purpose…Whatever you do in life, whatever is your lot in life God’s word should be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path, guiding you in the right way. When all your priorities and motives are right before Him you will be a pleasing child. When they are not, well, quite honestly you are just part of the problem here on planet earth. And I believe the following verses from the Holy Bible sum it all up…
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
New International Version
13
Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
14
For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
Now lastly, without God there is no health for our bodies…
I am not saying health is not important. But consider this describing the wicked:
Psalm 73:3-5
New International Version
3
For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4
They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.
5
They are free from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.
Sounds like health is pretty important to the wicked too…
God’s word even teaches us the way to health. Consider these words from the Holy Bible…
Proverbs 3:7-8
New International Version
7
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
And also consider these words concerning words of wisdom from the Holy Bible concerning health…
Proverbs 4:20-22
New International Version
20
My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
21
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;
22
for they are life to those who find them
and health to one’s whole body.
And I would add after God as priority #1 you might consider this…
Proverbs 4:23
New International Version
23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
When I heard this podcast Joe, I was actually appalled at what I heard based on me being a man of God for 35+years. Basically, my response is righteous indignation for the glory and majesty of THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. I know you may think I have commented this because you did not see fit for whatever reason to collaborate with my Facebook group but nothing is farther from the truth. My motivation in this comment was to reprove you for misplaced priorities in life according to the word of the one and only living God…my Father and hopefully yours and also leading others in the wrong direction. I am sure this comment will not go over well with some but I did not speak to this to please any man but to please my Lord and Savior. I fear God not man. God is no respecter of persons. I truly hope this opens your eyes and heart to the one an only true living God and His unfailing love for you. The price He paid for you was way more than what your family and friends ever will. You should be pointing people to God first and foremost in life…everything else will fall in place. Otherwise, your path leads to destruction. I really hope you repent and hope this helps open your eyes to how far off the path you have wandered. It is a straight and narrow path not a broad path. It is not that all those things you prioritized are not important but, without God as number one, you are simply a disobedient child deserving discipline from God. And His discipline will be hard and only prove you are a child of His. If he does not discipline you, then that should tell you that you are not His child and are still lost and undone. I know this may have been a rather long comment but my hope is to show you your error and that you may take this nonsense teaching down so that others are not led astray. Point them to the Lord God Almighty Joe. That is what you should be doing! I truly hope this helps you see the error of your ways.
Hey Bobby. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I completely agree with you.
This was definitely my worst Unchurched episode ever. I was dealing with a bad case of bronchitis (you could probably hear in my voice that something was off), and quite honestly I put this together super fast at the very last minute just to have some filler content.
I appreciate you big time for the reminder of what is really important (GOD). That’s the entire reason I started UNCHURCHED in the first place.
How did your talk with Wyatt go regarding the FB group? I haven’t received an update yet so I’ll follow up with him today.
Hey Joe, I am delighted you seem to have received this well. I was really distraught when I saw this Podcast. It kinda stepped away from fishing and seemed to be contradictory to what I have studied in my Bible the past 35+ years and also from your mission statement…THE MISSION OF SALT STRONG:
I really did not feel the advice honored God & Jesus in any way. I had projects to complete at home today but, it seemed more important to address this podcast even if it meant you rejecting the message and me as some religious fanatic, which I truly hoped you would not if you were a real man of God which I felt you are. So, again I am quite impressed you humbled yourself and saw the error of this podcast. I really hope it will be taken down and either revised with Godly advice & instruction or either trashed. I had a long chat with Wyatt and never heard anything back from him or you. I gathered you all were not interested in my proposal. I still made a separate file for Salt Strong videos in the group but since I did not hear back from Wyatt I have not used my abilities to help promote Salt Strong within my group. I only made a special file for any Salt Strong videos that do not contain an advertising message in the post itself.
You shed light on the TRULY important things in life Joe ! We all can & usually do, at times get caught up in this world’s speed of light living yet, taking some time to focus on life’s most important values can help us hit the reset button. May GOD continue to bless you & your family Joe !!!
