60 Minutes To Fish: Can I Get A Wade Fishing Slam?

With just 60 minutes to fish, could I reel in a wade fishing slam?

Armed with one rod and a few lures, I set out to get some bites at a local cove I could walk to.

Let’s see if I could find the fish!

FEATURED EQUIPMENT:

Water temperatures were on the colder side but I had a bunch of bait in front of me and a slight breeze pushing water into the area.

I was casting into about 3-4 feet of water.

After about 10 minutes of using the twitch-twitch-pause retrieve, I hooked into the first fish of the day – a beautiful upper-slot redfish!

You don’t need a boat or kayak to catch inshore saltwater fish!!

I had the PC Tweaker rigged on a Hoss Helix Hook.

These fish can’t help but take a chomp at it.

Most of the action was in deeper water so I switched to the Prawn Junior shrimp lure on a jighead a little while later.

Not long after that I caught a speckled trout.

Followed by a flounder to complete the inshore slam!

I desperately tried to catch a snook for the GRAND SLAM.

It was not until my very last cast that I hooked into a small snook.

But, that did the job!

No need for a boat.

No need for live bait.

If you’re in the right spot, you’ll find the feeding fish even from land!

That was the fastest grand slam I’ve ever caught in a new area.

CONCLUSION

Shore-based fishing can be extremely effective for inshore saltwater fishing… even in the winter months when there are fewer fish up in the shallows.

All you need to do to get consistent results is the following:

  1. Go through the Fishing School lessons
  2. Watch the Weekend Game Plan Lessons for your area
  3. Use the Smart Fishing Spots platform to find great spots based on the tides and weather

Yea I checked the spots app new feature with the public and private land access not a whole lot of wade fishing places around here but it’s no wonder considering my area here in jax fl the bottom in the st johns and icw is about 95 percent mud bottom so even though there might be access you would probably sink to your chest I know I have before many years ago when I was first starting to fish inshore saltwater and my yak got stuck in the mud and not realizing how thick and deep the mud was I got out of my yak thinking I could just easily drag it to some deeper water big mistake because I sunk all the way to my neck luckily i was able to pull myself up onto my yak gotta remember unlike your area of South fl and the majority of florida my little region of northeast fl the bottom content is totally different mostly mud unless you come across a sandbar but they are very few unless by the ocean and even though there are a few in the river one definatly needs a boat to get to them hardly any place around here you can just walk and wade right in and fish unless like I said by the ocean or in a freshwater pond I noticed you called a red and trout and a flounder a slam yes it is in my area but I thought your area was different since every part of florida has 3 different species to be called a slam I also noticed you now call your new lure the Polk county tweeker? Kind of a weird name is that your county Polk? Just asking don’t know much about Tampa area only been there once to darn hot for this yankee anyways I will admit I do like the new app alot it’s much easier to use then when it was first made anyways as usual keep up the good work and thanks for all of it you do👍😀
