What an amazing catch!
Just wait ’til you see how this monster 44″ bull redfish was caught by Salt Strong’s Tony Acevedo last week!
I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s say this solidifies the phrase, “You can’t catch a fish without a line in the water…”
In fact, this red drum video will have you scratching your head wondering just how many nice redfish you’ve missed by not having a lure in the water.
Speaking of heads, check out the massive head on this bull red when Tony pulls it out of the water. Sick!
You’ll understand how it almost snapped his rod at one point in the video.
Pa-POW!
Enjoy.

Conclusion
Pretty awesome, huh?
Who would have thought dead sticking a Gulp bait could work so well.
It just goes to show that it’s always best to have a bait in the water (even if it’s an artificial lure – of course, it does help to have a scented soft plastic like the Berkely Gulp baits).
There have been so many times where I’m guilty of trying to throw every bait I have at a fish when sometimes all you need is to slow it down (as in REALLY SLOW), and let the fish find your bait.
Hope you enjoyed the footage.
Great catch, Tony!

Great catch really enjoyed this video
Wow – a monster
Tony – What is that container you use for the Gulp lures? . As you know, the Gulp container often leaks.
Caught a 48″ 30 plus pound red (scale only went to 30), fishing the Redbone Red/Trout tournament on Mosquito Lagoon. All four of the Reds we caught were on rootbeer colored soft plastic jerk bait. Sizes were 48″ 41″40″ & 38″.
What a Fantastic RED! CONGRATS! BTW have you seen the new skiff called SOLO? Let me know what you think please;)
What I find unbelievable is that you didn’t have a knife aboard!
I always carry a knife. If I get skunked, I can always cut my throat!
Nice fishing. I could feel the excitement!
Where did you catch this?
It was caught in Satellite Beach, FL. Here’s a link to the Insider Report about this catch where the exact location and tactics used to catch this fish and the others that day are shown:

Nice fish Luke
What container do you use for your gulp storage?
The one I like best is made by Plano. They can be found in most tackle stores and even at Walmart.
Nice video Tony. Pretty cool
